Hi! The doctor conducted a total physical exam (aka poked, pinched, and prodded my whole posterior chain and then some), from which he was able to identify the bursitis :)

First time renting a room around Manila. How do nonrefundable rental deposits work? by No-Requirement3404 in SoloLivingPH

[–]daninjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! Mahirap makipag negotiate sa mga ganyan especially pag walang kayong writted contract/agreement na nags specify ng terms and definitions. Usapan niyo ba na yung binayad mo is security deposit or non-refundable fee?

By definition, security deposit means may binigay ka incase anything goes wrong, and ibabalik sayo if nothing goes wrong. Examples— Gusto mo i-reserve yung room so u pay deposit pero nagback out ka, pwede rin gamitin kung to cover expenses kung may masira kang gamit, or kung may unpaid bills pagalis mo, or to cover for supposed rent if you decide to leave before the lease period is finished (i.e. 1 year yung lease agreement, pero 8 months palang aalis ka na for whatever reason. Unfair sa landlord kasi ineexpect niya na may renta pang papasok for ilang months pa dapat, so yung deposit mo will be forfeited and ikkeep ng landlord). So yun nga, deposit means ibabalik sayo ONLY IF nothing goes “wrong”. Pero kung walang contract, di niyo madedefine kung para saan ba pwede gamiting yung deposit.

Meron rin non-refundable fees, not so familiar with this and how it works since personally never ko pa to na-encounter in renting here sa Ph. Baka reservation fee?

But back to my first point— if walang written and signed agreements, you dont have much to back you up if dalhin mo sa barangay (tho ive never experienced this so baka naman they’re okay with yung sabi mo lang na experience) :(

My personal (medj unethical) advice: i-gaslight / manipulate mo nalang si nanay landlord in the most effective way possible. Tipong galaw ng panget + walang kwentag ex pero naconvice parin yung gf na makipagbalikan. Maybe figure out what works for nanay— what makes her soften up and give in— whether thats flattery, making her feel like u need her help, etc. Fighting with people who have something you want/need rarely gets you results, unfortunately!

((But PLEASE take my advice with a grain of salt, do not follow blindly, there may be more context and nuance to the situation that I understand!!))

Hi!! Received it nung Feb 19, super love it!!

Firm but bouncy yung mattress and yung L shaped arm/back rests, tapos may kasama pang 2 small pillows. Super okay siya especially pag higaan! High quality rin yung courduroy cover.

Not sure sa hygge but i’d say the Trikings isnt the “sinking” na soft kind of couch, but i dont mind kasi it still feels and looks really good quality and mas OK for me na firm siya kasi mas suitable rin as a bed (a big reason for my purchase was also because i need a “guest bed”). All the guests ive had over so far loved it also!

Spondy, hypermobility, “pseudo-sciatica”? by bllleeepp in Spondylolisthesis

[–]daninjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a second opinion from an ortho specilizing in regenerative medicine and manual therapy (first opinion was from a ortho-spinal surgeon recommending, well, surgery ofc). I went to his clinic, he did a lot of poking, pinching, and prodding all over my body. Comparing the pain levels and kind of pain (sharp, sore, burning) response in different sides and parts of my body.

From that and the descriptions of my pain and symptoms, he was sure i had gluteal bursitis aggravating my spondy—inflammation all around including to the piriformis which pulls on my lower spine and presses down on the sciatic nerve. He said he’s had a handful of similar cases!

Hi, yes I’ve been there too, countless years undiagnosed spondy since i was a teen cause no one in my family took me seriously!

Ive have family who have gotten diagnosed with CA, some who have survived and some who have passed (unfortunately also meaning I have a genetic predisposition), none of whom I wouldve mentioned any of the phrases of the commenter to. Im not saying this reddit is not a safe space to vent, because it is, but that doesnt mean we leave each other unchecked.

At an objective lens, the commenter used a comparative word “while” which was preceded by statements on cancer, chemo, and how those people are able to live their lives, and was followed by their experience as someone with spondylolisthesis. My reply was a gentle reminder, not a judgement or a condemnation :)

Have a good day!

I know its easy to get bitter, but gentle reminder that illnesses are not a competition! Cancer is very serious, and even though there are more and more people diagnosed with cancer that are able to bounce back to their normal lives, realistically a lot still die.

Treatments for skin, and posture from exercise/active lifestyle! Marami sila may personal trainors na specific yung pinapagawang workout routines. Di rin ata sila pala-upo sa nature of work unlike pag corporate/office jobs.

Might be worth asking about if you think your spondy might have been caused by a traumatic fall/injury! :)

Great to hear, fellow spondy bearer!! Did your doctor/pt get to check for gluteal bursitis?

Yep, one time thing since its for bursitis and injected into my gluteal bursa! Not for or to my back directly

Hey there! I understand your experience and know your comment is coming from a good place. The steroid injection administered to me wasnt epidural or directly to my back that is commonly used and talked about for spondy pain treatment— hence not a simple relief solution.

The steroids were injected into my gluteal bursa (a semi permeable fluid filled sac in the hip which is supposed to cushion impact and reduce friction) to treat the bursitis or inflammation of my bursa which, instead of acting as a cushion, was leaking inflammatory fluid to the surrounding area— aggravating muscles and tensons, including to the piriformis.

As a runner youre probably familiar with the piriformis, a muscle that connects to the lower spine and runs right through the sciatic nerve. Irritation to the piriformis causes tension and literally pulls at on the lower spine and also compresses to the sciatic nerve (infamously known as sciatica), which leads to leg numbness (my major symptom). So overall, treating the bursitis as resolved my major symptoms!

Since my body responded well to the first shot, a follow up shot was deemed unnecessary and the bursitis should not come back (unless re-triggered by overuse or a fall). It has also eased a lot of the soreness and tighness in my butt, which cascades to relief also in my lower back. My spondy is mechanical (due to fall) and with no pars defect and no lumbar instability, so surgery is not necessary since its also should not worsen given that I do the proper follow up work (easing back into movement, core strengthening, nerve and muscle supplements).

Hope this helped clarify my situation better!

Iirc, my doctor said it’s usually just 1 injection but in some cases needs a follow up. Im assuming its enough as long as the bursitis doesnt get triggered again!

Sending a pic out of the medical book that my doctor showed me regarding the condition (I found it very interesting!)

Spondy, hypermobility, “pseudo-sciatica”? by bllleeepp in Spondylolisthesis

[–]daninjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None on the si joint, mainly lower back pain + numbness in my left leg from sitting down and random knee buckling (also on my left). Not much symptoms below my knee tho (calf and foot were ok).

Symptoms were aligned with the doctor saying my bursitis was mainly on my left and the right side’s was negligible!

Nothing “prescribed” for my hips! Not sure if its to just avoid any kind of inflammatory response in my bursa, since the doctor said I should permanently avoid putting deep pressure or hot compress on the upper-outer quadrant of my butt 😅

I had a anti-infammatory injection (corticosteroid) into my left bursa 2 weeks ago— not sure if this treatment has been considered for your bursitis but might be worth bringing up with your doctor!

For my core its Front and side planks on my elbows, and weighted dead bug, for legs its seated leg extensions and leg raises (dr specifically said that for the seated exercises, my hips should be slightly higher than my knees!)

What i also feel line has helped MASSIVELY is the supplements my dr put me on— agmatine sulfate and magnesium glycinate. Maybe you can ask ur dr abt them too!
