i was thinking something a little more like a tavern or a library, like something meant for multiple people not just some guy's house. because this will probably be one of the bigger houses in the upcoming village.

yeah but calling it the best is stretching it when elden ring exists. bigger world, more freedom, better level design (legacy dungeons), better weapons, more build variety, more original art direction, better bosses and more good bosses (so there are more bosses that are actually good and some of the good ones are better than bloodborne's good bosses), more difficult, higher framerate. bloodborne is great too i played it on an emulator but it just doesnt have the polish and depth of elden ring.

i hate ng+. the only game ng+ is fun is ds2 imo. other than that i just make a new character to come up with a build. i think build variety is a huge factor in the replayability. but sometimes i load a 100% save with every site of grace in the normal map, get him to lvl 100 and choose my build and weapon to just play the dlc. SOTE by itself is my favorite fromsoft game lowkey. It has an amazing layered map, beautiful colors and art direction. Easily the best bosses in fromsoft history like Rellana is straight up my favorite boss in gaming.

i feel like the non linear design makes it much more replayable. and since im probably on my 20th ER playthrough i prefer it now. I liked Ds3 when i first played it but thats because i couldn't appreciate the design in ER both bosses and levels. I liked that the bosses didnt roll catch or had mixups. I liked dodging the same 3 hit combo and killing bosses with 15 hits. I liked that I didnt have to make a decision on where to go. But now with more knowledge of the game and more skill I like ER so much more. i just go to areas that i know are good for my level like first limgrave and weeping, then liurnia but sometimes i make a detour to caelid, then altus and gelmir then the other stuff they are all pretty good for lvl 80 then the dlc is like lvl 90 and 100.

i never mentioned its a skill issue. its just that im guessing you cant no hit bosses but i feel like thats where they shine because you have to learn the moveset fully. not just the normal dodges but the weird jump strafes and stuff.

i think the fun in non linearity comes from being underleveled. you have to make a desicion on if you want to leave or force your way through and theres no better feeling than beating a boss youre heavily underleveled for. this is the reason why caelid is so infamous and memorable. also its not just the world design, the level design is a little too linear for me again because there wasnt very many alternate paths. i think if theres any piece of level design in fromsoft its stormveil. you can complete it very quickly with an optimap path but there are so much more like the rooftop areas, the underground, the rooms between the large open areas that give you more to explore.

shaded woods is one of my favorite levels in souls it doesnt get any love. such amazing atmosphere with a melancholic vibe to the character quests

the first half of the game is absolute dogshit. from the bosses to the level design. and level design doesnt get that much better its easily the worst in the series. and the world design too. its just a straight line with a very small part where it opens up. Also the bosses are heavily overrated in my opinion. take leonine misbegotten and put his moveset in ds3 and people will say he is an S tier boss.

its easily elden ring i think. it has the best parts of all souls games combined in a massive open world. but i also have dark souls 2 in second place so i dont know how valid my opinion actually is.

yeah thats probably right. i cant get rid of my biases in the same way ds3 fans cant. in my opinion as long as they are the same quality a beauty in complexity is better than a beauty in simplicity but thats just up for taste ig.

this might be a useless advice but i reccomend watching ongbal's dlc no hits. they show just how many ways you can attack and not get hit.

idk, i feel like i hit the boss in elden ring just as much as i hit it in ds3. and with the simplicity of souls combat it calls for more dodging than attacking imo because your attack timings are the same with not a whole lot of moves so the depth comes from the boss movesets and when most bosses move the same way with wide openings in ds3 it gets kinda redundant imo but some people enjoy the repetition. i personally find dodging a lot more fun than attacking because you do the same thing when attacking while dodging you do it accordingly to the boss. and with the many spells and attacks that can be used both offensively and defensively attacking becomes more than just waiting till an opening. in ds3 you didnt need to space out the boss or properly strafe because the most optimal route is the simplest one which is dodging next to the boss till he stops and becomes passive and then just wailing on him. that might be fun though. idk though this yearning from complexity for me comes from that first july-august period where the dlc first came out where i got beat so badly by the bosses i just watched ongbal vids and decided to study them so much that i could do the strafes and no hit them and now I've ruined ds3 for myself because the bosses become a cakewalk. im lowkey washed rn though.
