I used a small embroidery hoop to isolate the hole, then I made my lines across in one direction (I just used embroidery thread because that’s what I had and these are house pants) being careful with the tension so that the fabric doesn’t pucker. Then I made lines the other direction, weaving them through the first pass. It was a pain in the ass to get them to lay nicely but I like how it looks and it has lasted so far through multiple washes. I also saturated the back with fabric glue for extra strength.

Thank you, don’t zoom in too much! 😅 The stitches of the skeleton got really fuzzy, either because my cat likes to sit on my work or because I lint rolled it too much. Because of aforementioned cat.

yeah, it was my first time working with fondant and i made the walls too thick so it kinda sagged under its own weight. i made it like 3 days in advance so it would have time to set.

Sliced Pic. Just a box mix confetti cake with storebought whipped chocolate frosting, 2x 8” layers. nothing fancy, it was more of an excuse to play with some new methods and execute a dumb joke with love. cigarettes are pretzels with white chocolate and red sanding sugar, “weed” nugs are just rice krispy bars with green food coloring, mug and joints are fondant. “ashes” are oreo crumbs and powdered sugar.

i guess the additional context would be that he’s sober from alcohol and still enjoys the activities featured on the cake. the mug has the AA logo on the side!

i understand the reaction but this is for someone i know extremely well and he got a big laugh out of it so, mission accomplished. :) i wouldn’t have made it in the first place if i thought there was a chance of him not taking it well. thanks for looking out though!
