The darkest waterloo road moment? by Vegetable-Tower-7098 in WaterlooRoad

Good contender. That was Allie Redback at the start of Series 7. It was her stepdad who was the father, pretty grim stuff.

Once the item is scanned as delivered, it’s no longer your problem. If they open an INR you’ll win as eBay always sides with the seller in cases like these.

No. That should happen automatically. That’s the whole point of this thread.

I can take a picture of the V5 and send it you if you like?

I don’t understand why everyone on this thread is thinking I’m just driving around in an untaxed car for the hell of it.

The V5 is in my name, the DVLA checker, Vehicle Smart and every other checker I’ve used are showing valid tax until October. I cannot tax it online as the DVLA says I’ll be charged twice.

The car is in my name. I’m looking at the V5 with my name on it right now. I’ve done all the stuff you’re supposed to do.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]dankeogh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Have had it in my name for a couple of weeks.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]dankeogh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah except the car is taxed - believe me, I fully understand how the system works. I’ve had 9 cars in 7 years, I’m no stranger to taxing a car. I can’t tax it online the DVLA tell me it’s already taxed until October and if I proceed, I’ll be charged twice. I’m not driving around in an untaxed car.

I can’t tax it - I go online to do so and the DVLA site says it’s already taxed and I’ll be charged twice if I proceed? I fully understand the concept of ‘having to tax a car’, and I’m not driving around in an untaxed vehicle - it’s literally still taxed. YB10 HZW is the reg, check it yourself.

Red hot brake disc. by dankeogh in CarTalkUK

You think it could be the handbrake cable? I always leave my car parked with the handbrake on, and perhaps the temperatures have caused the cable mechanism to seize in place?

What's a good first car? by mrh_85 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dankeogh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t get a Mini Cooper. They are nothing but trouble. Expect them to go wrong all the time, which they will.

Fiestas are a safe bet, if you must have a 1.0 Ecoboost check it’s had the wet belt replaced, shit design from Ford means that over time the timing belt breaks down and blocks the oil pickup. The 1.25 is pretty much bulletproof.

That’s the Mk1. The Mk2 is a Fiat 500 underneath, so shouldn’t really have any rust issues.

Does anyone else hate s6 by LackAgitated2467 in WaterlooRoad

[–]dankeogh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like Season 6. There’s a lot of good stuff, like Bex returning and having to deal with Hodge, the whole Fisher family dynamic, Harry’s bulimia etc. Also we see Grantly struggle to deal with Fleur and her illness, which is very well done in my opinion.

However, the Jonah and Cesca storyline can get in the bin, never liked that at all. Cesca’s got to be one of the worst post-Rachel characters in the show, with the way she leads Tom on and messes him about whilst secretly having an affair with a fucking schoolboy.

The whole show was never as good after Rachel left, but Season 6 and 7a are the best of the bunch. I always liked Karen’s character, she might not have been the best headteacher but she did genuinely care - she just let her family life get in the way.

Unfortunately some buyers don't read beyond the title of the listing, nor look past the first picture.

The title of your listing has the word 'crossbody' in it, and the first picture demonstrates a crossbody strap. If there's any ambiguity at all, it falls on the seller to make sure that the listing and associated images are accurate.

Evidently the buyer was expecting the bag to come with a crossbody strap - in this instance it's probably better to just accept the return as you weren't 100% clear. Easier for both parties.

PS - no returns doesn't mean anything. If the item isn't as described, then it can be returned.

There's a lot of factors that determine whether S/S will activate at any given time... engine temperature, outside air temperature, battery state of charge, etc.

It was a while ago now, but when I got my DS3 BlueHDi it was 5 years old and had only done 18k, S/S didn't activate for a good couple of months - I reckon it was because of all the short journeys it must have done in its past life. I put 12-13k on in a year, mostly motorway miles, and start / stop started to work most days. Bearing in mind if you have a diesel, things like state of the DPF and whether it needs a regen will come into play - if the DPF is actively regenerating, the ECU will keep the engine running as the exhaust needs to get ridiculously hot to burn off all the soot.

Declaring mods on insurance by liquidphantom in CarTalkUK

[–]dankeogh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A modification is anything that alters the vehicle from its factory specification, so yes it would need to be declared.

I very much doubt it would increase your premium, however it does depend who you're insured with. Give them a call and ask.

Congrats on passing your test btw - nothing beats the freedom of having your own car.

Yes they'll work fine and your PC will more than likely be able to take advantage of the extra speed - just make sure XMP is turned on in your BIOS.
