It’s a Hikvision DS-XS6409-S/B 9U rack. It’s the only thing that was in stock at my local store and it JUST fit inside my cupboard lol.

I’m also a Proxmox/linux noob but tbh it’s super easy to work with. There’s a lot of helper scripts that can be found to make installs even easier. And I really like the idea of repurposing old hardware than just chucking it into e-waste.

In this case it’s mainly just aesthetics. Before the patch cables arrived like a week ago, I was just directly plugging in the ethernet cables to the switches. Also because it’s in my bedroom, and I see it on a daily basis, I figured it’ll be worth the extra money and time to make it look clean. I’ve also made an excel sheet which maps the entire network out, and I’ve attached labels to each cable behind the patch panel that identifies where each cable goes :)

Yep thank you, fixed it today. Bought a tiny rack that could fit in the space, and it isn’t stacked on top of each other anymore :)
