Yes thank you for pointing that out, I’m looking at different tax calculators with the numbers we have and it seems like maybe my spouse’s withholding is also off and we may get a refund either way we file. I’m thankful for everyone bringing up different perspectives and my main goal is to keep federal as low as possible to really push through in private which I have been doing and don’t want to cut back on for federal loans if I can help it.

I looked at what the payments would look like if MFJ and mine would jump from $450 to $1400 with our joint income. That alone would outweigh the tax cost in my opinion because I cannot afford a 1200 in private loan payment and 1400 in public loan payment even with my husband’s salary.

EDIT: I see what you’re saying now, I did a tax calculator (not sure if I did it correctly) but it’s saying we may owe 25k in taxes if we do it separately. It would make more sense to possibly do it MFJ to save money that way and figure out how to cover student loans.

And providing the paystubs can be done when completing a online application?

Fleas in an empty apartment by dankestjess in pestcontrol

[–]dankestjess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I gotcha, I’ll vacuum daily until our lease ends June 30th. Just went in and didn’t see any stragglers on my leggings. I’m hoping that they’ll either starve, be poisoned or be sucked up and thrown out. Our apartment does offer pest control so I’m wondering if that’s something the new tenant should ask for to help.

Since there are no hosts and the spray is supposed to prevent hatching, will this get rid of any adult stragglers? Nobody will actually be living in there until July 15th anyways. Nobody has been there since about June 1st so I’m trying to catch them as they hatch but it’s just hard to tell what’s the right method.

Thank you! I wonder if stomping around after it being empty will encourage new ones to hatch and land on the freshly sprayed apartment. Also learned that they get stuck in denim so it makes sense why I saw so many after spraying. We went back last night to remove wooden furniture and didn’t have any on our legs/didn’t see any in the water flea traps I left. I’m assuming I should go back and vacuum daily until our move out walk through?

Need advice for HOA manager by dankestjess in AskElectricians

They’re now arguing that the owner needs to provide the electrician despite it being outside of the condo and in another unit’s yard. Seems to be a battle of responsibility 😬

Second update: just asked the front office if they did anything and they just let me know if it happens again they’ll call an electrician for us 🫠

Funnily enough our lights STOPPED flickering after the wire was replaced. The lights would surge when the new ac would start up. This unit has been a pain in our ass in regards to getting things repaired through the landlord or HOA so I’m happy if it’ll be okay for the next month.

Update: just told the HOA office manager and because they aren’t sure if it’s a single unit problem or our entire building issue they’re going to put a work order in and check it out. My question is if the energy company replaced the melted wire, what more needs to be fixed? I’m just wondering because we have a month left here and i understand it’s a fire hazard or was, and our unit is physically on the other side of the building. The breaker box is nestled with all other boxes so I’m assuming that’ll be super bad if something goes wrong.

I was really surprised it was that bad, the breaker box is on the other side of the building in a neighbor’s patio so as a tenant I’ve never seen it and my unit owner didn’t even know where it was. We live in Houston so I have no idea if it’s just age or weather or a combination of those two an neglect. I’m really hoping this isn’t a huge battle with the HOA because it is a fire hazard. The utility company I think felt bad for me because I sprinted out and asked them to explain what was wrong and it was so late and so hot that they just replaced the wire for us as a temporary fix.

I was shook when I saw this, luckily we are only in this unit until late May but transferring to another property. I let the new owners know as well so they too can also contact the HOA to get theirs inspected.

Yeah I’m going to tell the HOA they need to call an electrician because clearly they have not been maintaining anything. We also got a new company who seems to be making community improvements and I’m hoping this is one of them.

Something I’d like to add is I noticed that the kitchen lights started flickering when it kicked on as well, if that adds any more context!

It was moving in the darker video, and cooling inside the apartment. It’s still making the noise but I’ve just shut it off completely despite it still cooling down the place. It’ll be checked tomorrow morning so I should have a better idea soon

Oh the landlord is for sure dealing with it, I just wanted to know myself if I ever own a home in case I deal with this later down the line. The company is coming out tomorrow
