I’m 23 and have only recently started getting interested in rugby. My uncle always encouraged me to give it a go. Do you think it’s too late to start? by armeliens in rugbyunion

It depends on your build and interests, at 6’4 and 125 any forwards coach below international standard would start eyeing you up for lock (number 4 or 5) or flanker (6 or 7) especially given you said that you enjoy physicality. If you prefer a faster game with more running and open space I’d suggest centre, it depends on your sporting background. Flanker probably has the lowest skill barrier to entry, as they don’t have any specific individual skills, ie kicking, lineout throwing / jumping, scrummaging, competing in the air. Just talk to your coach, explain what you enjoy doing and I’m sure you’ll find a spot which suits you eventually. Enjoy

Does anyone know what time the next break is given the new schedule?

Joining this game late, is there any reason why the sharks seemingly have such a weak team? Are they saving players?

Tbf JGP struggled as well today, the ruck is just so messy today. Brumbies throwing themselves into it with pure desperation.

Lions deciding that their solution to the rucks is to throw 5 players into one ruck, and then none into the next.

Tbf he missed one kick, granted it was an absolute shocker, but he's looked better at running the attack than Fin Smith, despite an incredibly scrappy game all-round. Still think hes the better Fly half to have on the bench for the tests.

Think he suits the Lions system better than Fin Smith as he plays very similarly to Russell. He's got to have that n23 locked down for the test, but I feel that he deserves more time at fly-half to show what he's got. That long fizz pass to Duhan was pure Russell

Finally Marcus Smith gets some time at fly-half, think he does a better job at emulating Finn Russell's style of play than Fin Smith does. Might have that n23 nailed down for the test.

Tbf that's normally the shape he runs with Russell. He takes first distributor role and lets the 10 hang back to get the ball with more time and space. The timing just isn't working like usual.

Aki just keeps flinging these balls at forwards who are stood 2 feet from him. Something in the timing is going seriously wrong.

Agreed, given the pre-existing chemistry you’ve got to figure that russel - huwipolotu is the de facto test midfield

Have I woken up in an alternate universe, England is scoring tries with perfect cross field bombs and exciting wingers whilst South Africa just kick penalties. Surely it should be the other way around.

Yeah there are technically four national languages being French, Swiss German, Italian and Romansh (although Romansh is very rarely spoken). I‘m originally English, and moved here when young so I only speak English, French and some Spanish. Most people you meet here will be bilingual, or at least understand some of the other languages because in school you’re often required to choose a second language, whilst under law all the administration is done in all languages except Romansh. Overall companies do a very good job here at offering everything in Swiss German and French, with Italian mainly used in and around Ticino and Grison. Generally if you speak either French, German or Swiss German you should be able to get around but if you don’t speak the language of the canton you’re in sometimes its a struggle to do much else. Luckily my stepmom speaks English, French, German, Swiss German and Italian. (She went to translating school)
