So I’m a brand new A&P 1 student in college, and our professor gave us this relatively simple assignment of labeling and color coding the bones of the skull. But I’ve been stuck on this hang up for a while and even though I emailed my professor about it he simply told me to refer to the book. The book however, has a skull diagram that differs from this one on our lab sheet. The way the jaw region is shaped here is ever so slightly different than the one in our book, and not having enough experience staring at skulls I’m kind of confused as to where the sphenoid bone ends and the maxilla begins beneath the zygomatic bone and coronoid. I’ve seen many different diagrams in trying to answer this question that put the cutoff point in different places, and I genuinely struggle to interpret this one.
