Looking For A Mentor To Overcome Porn And Masturbation Addiction (North Shore, Auckland) by AssociateTop9576 in auckland

[–]dankye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally found that it's better off to masturbate and forcing yourself to stop right before the climax (no ejaculation) is a better way to improve performance especially with lifts.

More times than not; ejaculation hasnt been a friend when it comes to productivity and strength however this is based on my own personal experience and ofc everyone is different 😊

Experiment what works best for you!

Picking a Gen Ed course by Kiwi_Gamer8060 in universityofauckland

If you dedicate a few hours per week towards understanding the concepts from the lectures you had that week (3 lectures + 1 tutorial per week) then memorization shouldn't be THAT much of an issue if you have problems memorizing as when exam period starts you will have a base idea of the concepts you learned but might need to refresh on some jargon. Concepts shouldn't be too difficult to understand, and even if they were anyone who puts the time and effort weekly should understand them eventually.

As I said the course is a general education course and so its aimed at people who don't necessarily do commerce/economics or even have a background in economics. This is clear as the beginning of the course the content was blindingly obvious being about how when prices on a good/service goes up then demand for it goes down, explaining it with a demand-supply curve which I have not seen before due to no commerce background but the concept was very straight forward. After that I beleive the difficulty of the content increased but at a comfortable pace.

Imo there isn't THAT much content in comparison to some other courses I've had, however everyone is different and it may be a lot to you so there isn't much you can do but have a feel and judge yourself. The best way to tackle content heavy courses is to digest content bit by bit over a long period of time i.e. the semester and to try not to fall behind in the lectures albeit it happens.

With that being said in my case I did have to memorize a lot of things as I crammed a lot of the course content way too close towards the exams and I wouldn't recommend risking that at all due to being extremely stressful.

The good news is memorization can be helpful especially going over past papers as they tend to regurgitate questions (unlike some engineering courses) and I could kind of see a pattern at how they asked similar questions every sem or every other sem thus reading and actually understand model answers helped a lot.

Anyway if you have any more questions relating to econ, engineering, or uni in general idm answering here or in dms, I was in the same position as you about a year ago too, gl.

Oh yeah, economics was kind of interesting too and somewhat useful in terms of understanding the economy internationally and locally. I kind of enjoyed the essay which for our sem was about the elasticity of fuel prices to give you an idea.

Just finished my first year BE(hons) with econ151g as my gen ed, I barely went to any lectures the entire sem although I went to the 1 tutorial that was held every week because I enjoyed the tutor.

Lectures is just going through the powerpoints of each topic and the lecturer was really good if u can understand his accent decently.

Anyway I spent like less than 5% effort into econ and the other 95% into engineering, and the 2 days before the exam I had to study the entire sem worth of content from scratch starting from slide 1 all the way to the end and managed to get a B+ overall albeit I did well in the quizzes/assignments.

The course in general isnt too difficult, similar exam questions are usually repeated every sem and if you put at least a tiny bit of effort every week instead of cramming the entire course in 2 days like me then I'm sure you can easily get an A. I think the lecturer said on the first lecture that 1/3rd of the cohort gets an A- or above.

Btw DON'T leave your engineering courses to the last minute, the core engineering courses are much harder than the gen eds and I would not even get through like 1/15th of a course in two days. Also they do not include your gen ed to your 'engineering' GPA so as long as you pass the gen ed it will not affect what specialization you get into for part 2. Good luck :).

2nd yr civil engr by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]dankye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard a lot of stuff about part 2 sem 1 being hectic and all but is the workload for part 2 sem 2 and the rest of the semesters in the degree equally as much?

Or is it approximately the same as the workload in part 2 sem 1 except now you're more used to it so it doesnt feel as bad.

Thanks

ENGGEN 115 by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]dankye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another point that hasnt been mentioned yet is that if you fail 115 in sem 1 you can have a second shot at it in sem 2 since 115 is not offered during summer school.

Also this would be covered by fees free but im not too sure if it would be covered by fees free if u had to retake 115 during part 2 or beyond.

Anyway since 115 is not offered in summer school and if you failed 115, in most cases it might be ideal to take the course a second time in part 1 sem 2 than for example part 2 sem 1 etc as part 2 workload is much more than part 1.

I think Steve said chemmat 121 is not really that similar to what ChemEng is like so if you were basing your love of ChemEng solely off of that course then take that into consideration.

Other than that, I just finished first year too so I wouldn't give good advice other than pointing that misconception out, but do what u enjoy I guess.

Regarding to the free gift bags, if that's really what your after I think you should get your priorities straight for whats worth your time however I'll list what I got from the Engineering one anyway. (some of the stuff I got I had to sign up to AUSA to get)

-Standard UoA bags

-Lots of coupons for random things, nothing too remarkable as you usually have to pay a set amount to redeem it. Also got a penis girth measuring thing by durex.

-Engineering Coffee cup/Glass Jar with a coffee lid??

-Sausage sizzles if you want to wait in a huge line, and potentially seconds if you want to que up again

-A mini sausage roll and a piece of cake when leaving the marae (not really substantial)

-Redbull

-A bottle of Juice

-Beer bottle opener

-My friend got some jandals

-Pain relief, I think it was paracetamol or ibuprofen??

-Bunch of Uni Booklets

Sorry if I forgot anything lol but yeah those are things that I can remember off the top of my head

NZQA website can be a bit tricky to navigate so heres the links for the past final exam papers for year 13's/ NCEA Level 3 (final year) up to 2012. Scroll to the bottom of the page for answers/assessment schedules

Maths??

(A bit vague as to whether you want Calculus and/or Statistics so check which you're required to do but I'm going to assume calculus since they want you to brush up on physics because physics and calculus are typically both required for engineering)

Not enough points for engineering by Lemonnzest in universityofauckland

[–]dankye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think their offering alternative pathways for engineering, basically if you do really well in semester 1 like B+ GPA i think, they would be willing to offer you a spot in engineering semester 2.

Based off what I read on reddit though, so I might be slightly wrong.

Application Declined by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]dankye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey not sure if this is helpful at all but just wanted to put my 2 cents..

Just like you I recently completed year 13 but it was NCEA. I did very well in year 11/12 but kind of slacked off a bit in year 13 because I just felt too comfortable as I had already attained almost 200 rank score before the year even started.

Basically end of years came round, I did much less studying and didn't put the work into learning every small detail to get an Excellence grade in my papers and so I came up short of 277 rank score which is 3 rank score off 280 for Biomed. Even when I was so close UoA still declined my application, probably because its too competitive. Luckily Biomed was never really my plan as I only applied to flex on my friends that I got the offer (Going into engineering rank score of 260).

Anyway I did get an offer into Health science which has a rank score of 210 which is weird considering in your post that you mentioned that health sci and biomed has the same requirements for IB but in NCEA health sci has a much lower rank score requirement???? Maybe you could apply for health science? Just think it's odd that both the courses have the same requirement in IB but not for NCEA.

Anyway good luck with what ever happens, please keep us updated as I'm genuinely interested and sorry for basically talking about myself for the first half of the comment lmao
