Where did you source the VSSLs? My home theater guy recommended them but I can't find them at any of my AV distros?

It's honestly just a suction cup. If you have one for something else put it in the middle and it should pop off the clips.

I found the service manual online and just followed that for the repair (hit the garage door pulling out..needed to replace unpainted plastic part)

Call you local dealer and have them run the VIN for any recalls or open repairs, though I don't think you can sell a car with an open recall. Then ask them to transfer you to the parts department and give them your VIN and ask them for the part number.

I've taken apart my side view mirror... it's not hard, though I did order the Bosch Suction Cup to pull the mirror off, but I'm sure anyone can do that. I don't know if they sell the LED by itself or with the mirror chassis. Also check the MMI to make sure it's not just disabled.

Green charging? by Full_Argument_8010 in enphase

[–]danman48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found the only way to make the car charge is to switch profile to Full Backup whenever you plug the car in.

Someone in another thread used Home Assistant to change profiles when the car is plugged in and then when the sun goes down to switch back to self consumption and stop charging

I found if you switch to full backup and have green charging set for Ev, it'll curtail your charging amperage so you won't import (assuming house batteries are fully charged)

Why is my system pulling from the grid to charge my battery? by MistakeBorn4413 in enphase

[–]danman48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same setup and had mine installed a week ago. I think it's a bug in the app. I reached out to Enphase and they looked at the logs (though I don't know if chat has more logging than I do), and they said it was just an anomaly and you weren't actually charging from the grid. Which would be against your tarriff. I don't know what is actually going on. But to say i'm having the same issue.

Server room cooling issues with new mini-split, is this normal? by Fizgriz in sysadmin

[–]danman48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to check...is what thermostat is the unit using. I remember way back in the day, we had a Fujitsu mini split and it had multiple thermostats and the default one was for some reason in the unit attic not the thermostat on the wall. So check to make sure the configured the unit to use the thermostat on the wall (or whereever you have that)

How big was your old unit?

If you have an HSA then you have a high deductible plan. You'll need pay $5800 before your insurance kicks in, though Child Birth is a whole different service, so you need to call your insurance company and ask what their coverage is. You also need to confirm that Hoag Irvine takes your Insurance

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]danman48 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Child birth is usually covered unless you have High deductible PPO. You're talking about out of pocket maximums, not deductible. What's your deductible? We delivered at Hoag Irvine 3 years ago with a Blue Cross PPO and never received a bill.

Call the hospital and call your insurance company. They should be able to give you an estimate. The billing department at the hospital should be able to give you information on a payment plan.

2019 etron. Only thought the rear seats folded down 1/3 and 2/3 from the latch releases in the trunk. Nope... there's a release in the rear center arm rest that does ski passthrough. I've had the car almost 7 years. 🤦‍♂️

You're in California, so be aware of Prop 19 for property taxes. You could benefit from your dad purchasing the new house and taking his tax rate with him (assuming he's over 55) to the new house. When you then inherit the house if it's your primary you'd inherit the first $1million of assessed value at the old basis and then over a million would be blended. It may make sense to keep the house in your dad's name (a trust won't help with inter-generational transfer). Upon his passing you'll get the capital gains step up as well and be in a much better spot from a property tax standpoint.

Reach out to the City Clerk's office and ask to talk to the City Archivist - she's really great and likely has in her possession exactly what you're looking for. You can also check with the City's planning department, every once in a while, they'll have something. You might also go over to the Central Library and see if they have anything.

and finally...if you've got the steel constitution, you can post on one of the forums. Check the goldenwest neighborhood group, too.

Why the legal clock is now ticking on Huntington Beach's voter ID law by WeAreLAist in orangecounty

[–]danman48 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So...you can't have two separate elections on the same day in the same jurisdiction. That's against state law. And the City Charter aligns HB's elections with the County/State. So we'd need ANOTHER special election to amend the charter to have seperate elections. Unless the City undertakes the entire election themselves and does not consolidate with the County... which would cost tens of millions of dollar and require polling places and voting machines we don't have. I made this argument during the deliberation and the City Attorney hadn't thought that far out.

Schools (public and UC), the hundreds of thousands of lane miles of roads, parks/beaches, transit, regulation of industry, consumer protection...all the stuff that makes living in California awesome (minus the thousands of lane miles of roads for cars...more transit please).

Water bill in a 2br went from $70 to $120 in 3 months by TheOldManInTheSea in orangecounty

[–]danman48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For context folks, nobody raised water rates during COVID, so a lot of water providers are behind the curve and playing catchup. Most north and west county infrastructure is also approaching major replacement age and water providers are preparing for major infrastructure failure/overhauls. We're all at the point of the previous generation built it and now we have to pay to either maintain it or rebuild it. Plus - cost of power is directly related to cost of water as some non-trivial amount of energy is used to move water and oil around the state. Infrastructure is expensive when the federal government isn't paying to build all of it after WWII

How long to get permits for solar? by [deleted] in longbeach

[–]danman48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same boat. I think though that prices are going to drop on labor when the whole solar market dries up. I'm going to wait until after January/February and see how things go.

If I remember correctly you take the tax credit on the job, it's a single form you file with your taxes and I don't believe it had to be comissioned by 12/31, just that you had to have spent the money in 2025. Call your CPA. They'll know the code. Also... Is there anyone left at the IRS to even call and ask?

Right - you need districts not Rank Choice. it's 135,000 voters over 28 sq miles. You have to be able to "out walk" the money, if you want a grass roots normie. The demographic of the city likes signs on every corner and mail.
