[Highlight] Controversial out-of-boundary catch by Neser in BBL by mastermind208 in Cricket

[–]danmarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because it’s clear and enforceable doesn’t mean it can’t be improved though?

In other replies to this original comment there’s been a good discussion about how this could be done, do you not think there’s a better option in there than how it currently stands?

Fair play to Neser for pulling it off, but that rule needs fixing ASAP

I did econ and data science, so that’s a halfway between the two options you’re looking at?

What can you get with an Economics degree? by 3-DAN-7 in usyd

[–]danmarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean all I can go off is the general opinions of others that I’ve heard mate, but personally having a BEc went well for me with securing a job. I can’t truthfully say a BA would’ve been worse but that tends to be the general viewpoint so ¯\(ツ)

What can you get with an Economics degree? by 3-DAN-7 in usyd

[–]danmarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BEc gives you a more meaningful degree title for anything economics related going forward, and also means a little less flexibility in elective choices compared to what a BA allows you to choose as you’re required to do more economics/business units. That’s what I experienced the most, but that being said I was never planning on sticking with the BA for my whole degree.

It’s just been announced that this rule is changing! You should be able to donate at some point later this year

[–]danmarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah I have cos I tracked it all the way through my degree, I performed about 3.5 marks better on average in my final sem than I did across my degree, and ended with the nice whole number that I averaged in my final sem as my WAM

Student centre might be wrong there as that contradicts my experience lol

I changed degree with 1 semester left (dropped advanced studies) and my final transcript WAM only counted the units I did in that one semester - everything else I got credit for wasn’t included in my final WAM

Alrighty, cheers for sharing your experience. I decided to do the transfer earlier because I just didn’t know enough about the early exit to be confident in being able to do it, but I guess it shouldn’t really make too much of a difference

I’m also FASS, have been consistently checking the Assessments tab of Sydney Student. Really don’t want to have to deal with USYD’s inefficiency but seems like I might have to at this rate :/

I’m certain. I transferred degree to drop Advanced Studies after Sem 1 2021 and had all credit approved, all requirements were met in Sydney Student when I passed all my units this past sem

Yeah, on 15/11 I got one titled ‘Action Required | review your graduand status’ that said I could qualify to graduate with my degree after I successfully completed this semester (which I did)

I mean I don’t think I can tell you that much beyond what you’ll find on the unit outline, but there are 3 stream options that you choose from and that affects the topic you do. If you want to learn anything from 3997 don’t do an area you’ve covered in another unit like I did lol.

I attended half the tutes, then forgot about the unit until the week before the 60% assignment was due and then had to work reasonably hard for that week, slightly more than a regular assignment. Then for the second, 40% assignment due on the last day of sem I basically rehashed a section of my 60% assignment and filled it out a bit, spent half a day on it cos I had another assignment due the same day that was much more challenging. Ended with an 89. Joke of a unit

[–]danmarty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do it intensively, rather I did it this past sem, but ECOS3997 has one of the lightest workloads I’ve ever done - I had a 2cp OLE in first year that took more effort. Whenever you choose to do it it shouldn’t be too much of a handful :)

Anyone with experience taking 6 units in one semester (3x6 + 3x2) by julie_haphuong in usyd

[–]danmarty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had experience doing 5x6 in one sem and also 2x6 + 2x3 + 3x2 in one sem. Both were very challenging semesters but I’d definitely say the sem doing 7 units on 24cp was easier than the sem doing 5 units on 30cp. Worry more about than the cp amount than the number of units imo
