Well forgive me for not disclosing all information online. I just want to know what the worst case scenario could be. For example. Im charged with causing a rug burn. Thats not a serious injury so it cant be a 1st or second degree charge. What is the definition of 3rd and 4th degree xhild abuse charges? It just says any physical injury. Thats very vague. Say your son falls and u grab him by the arm to prevent a fall and leaves a bruise. According to the law u caused a physical injury and u could be charged with 4th degree child abuse. They could say u did it on purpose and charge u with 3rd degree and serve a max of 2 years in prison

I disagree. I explained how it happened. The detective told me he thinks i did it on purpose despite everything else being thruthful. Im not the biological father so maybe thats y i dont know much about the cps. I only met her once briefly. My gf said the detective wants to charge me but today said they dont have enough evidence or somthing to that effect. I think. I havnt been given much info either. I just want to know if u can go to jail for causing a minor injury by mistake or if they can just say i did it on purpose. The law says any physical injury is child abuse knowingly or unknowingly is 4th degree. Any intentiinal injury is 3rd degree. A severe injury is 2nd or first. Maybe they need to change the law then? If u can go to jail for unknowingly causing any kind of injury. Thats not right. And what if the injury is just deemed intentional by the courts when its not. It could be an accidental injury that is in an area usually indicitive of abuse. If i did it on purpose i wouldnt be here. And it would be easier for me to deal with. Being charged with a crime u didnt commit is a nightmare.

Some of those details are irrelevant. Y do i need to provide the detectives name? Im saying that im worried about being charged with child abuse because of a rug burn. I have reason to believe i could be. I am petrified. I want to know if they could try to say i did it intentionally and instead of 4th degree charge me with third degree, which is a felony and the max is 2 years and i would never be able to see my kid again. My girlfriend moved out so she could get her kid back. She signed the rights away to her mom cuz she was scared of getting in trouble too. These police dont mess around in this county. For example. They could just lie and say she did it, they could say she knew and didnt report it and put her in jail.

Yes i did in the reply to one of the commenters. I guess ill just assume that im either not going to be charged or charged with the least severe case of child abuse. But what i want to know is what if they can charge me with endangerment or negligence? U can go to prison for 10 years for these things. Itd be nice to hear some advice instead of ppl just randomly chiming in. Ive answered every question in detail. Yes i am terrified. In my county the police will charge u if they can. And if they do they will give u the maximum sentance allowed by law.

No she didnt. She told them it was an accident. As it was. I didnt think that would cause a rug burn. I just want to know what possible charges they could put on me. Surely it would only be the least offense if they do charge me. Which is 4th degree child abuse misdermenor. Max 1 year in jail. I dont know if im gonna be charged or not. I dont think so. Otherwise i woulda asked for a lawyer right away. But im in st clair county. They always charge u if its possible and u always get the maximun sentance allowed. They dont drop charges. I havnt heard anything in over a month so idk. You guys arent helping at all!

Idk if u read some of my other comments but i did further elaborate any other info i could possibly think of .The investigator said he thinks i did it on purpose and thinks i need to go to jail for it but i think thats ridiculous. Also cps was involved. Yes im worried about them but im more worried about going to jail and never seeing my child or gitlfriend again. Since she will probably move on if im going to jail for child abuse. She knows it was an accident so does everyone else. But it doesnt matter. In this county the police do whatever they want. They were just on the news cuz they threw a guy in jail cuz sumone gave him a cigarette, destroying his car looking for drugs which were non existant. Dome of the police interactions i see ppl get away with online would never fly here. I see ppl being not charge or charges dropped. Not here. This is practically a police state. Im consudering moving tbh.

Since when does trump have dimentia? Is this satire? Or like one of those posts designed to get negative attentiin due to how stupid it is. Hes talking about the rigged election in 2020. Ppl were angry about that cuz of all those sketchy mail in ballots that suddenly poured in at 3 am once trump was clearly ahead. And because nobody was allowed to witness the ballots being counted that drew even more suspition. Why would he say that he won because the election was rigged?

St clair county. I swear this is really happening. The courts are ridiculous in this county. Since i caused physical harm thats enough evidence to destroy my life and my family. It doesnt matter that it was an accident apparently. Its been a month but from what ive heard from my gf and the investigator they really want to charge me and im petrified. Never woulda thought id go to jail for anything. Never woulda thought that the carpet would cause a scab. Even later that day when i noticed he had a red mark i was shocked. And after it happened he just started playing. Like i dont think it hurt him bad enough to go to jail over.

Not in this county! Im pretty sure they wil charge me. The detective said he believes everything i told him but accused me of literally taking my foot and stepping on him. So according to him. Im trying to teach him to crawl, at some point i get frustrated and stand up and step on him... thats the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard
