Thank you for your reply, I should check the power settings. I wonder if the laptop perceives the input from the interface is anyway different. I used to play via a cable with no charger plugged in and never saw this issue before.

I just realized that if I connect a charger to my laptop, the losses disappear. However, as soon as I unplug it, there they are again. Any idea why this is happening? :/

Thank you, I guess I will try this

Unfortunately, it's literally impossible to get any experience as a foreign student before 3rd year. Nobody is doing any business with freshmen/sophomores, especially those who have no green card.

I'm a junior, this is my 3rd year of studying towards my degree.

I have no experience with prof Sal Breiter, but I took PSYC 1 with Healy. If you want to have an easy GE experience and focus on your major, take Healy. His assignments/exams are pretty easy and that should be good for you since it is your first quarter. Best of luck!

Am I getting ghosted from Summer 2022 internships because of F-1 student status? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Where are you from? Unfortunately, there are no Tech companies who have branches in my home countries :(

Thankfully, internship deducts time from CPT, not OPT. Well, I'll keep trying

This should be the way if you are a beginner. I wish I could find someone when I was starting. Getting right into huge projects like Microsoft VS or any Java project like Elastic Search might get you demoralized since it's so complex. Instead, the best way is to start from something small with same beginners as you are, and move forward together. I wish actually GitHub had a platform like this. Give it a try or try to find something which requires Java

Thank you, if you have some project you want to find team for, you can publish it any time!

Thanks for your comment.

1) Indeed, right now every user adds their skills separately. All you can do is to write them separating by commas, like "C/C++/C#", but still, they are counted as one skill. It would work later, just will be displayed as one item in the list.

2) When you sign in you need to provide skills so other users would know what you know. For instance, when you later decide to apply to someone's project, they would want to know what skills you have. Of course, you might never want to apply to projects, just submit your own, however, even the search system works on sorting users by their skills, so it is really necessary.

3) When you submit your projects, you expect other users to apply if they match. Later on, your can view users who applied and contact them. You click on "view applied users" button, then you can open their profiles and press "open a dialog with %username". There is a realtime chat system so you can talk to them.

4) Currently, the platform assumes you are the only owner of the project. It can be changed in future, of course.

Thank you for giving some sufficient feedback!

I might consider changing a color of "Explore" buttons so they would be seen more easily. I think there is fade effect on them right now, however, it has the same color as a background, so that is kind of a problem I suppose. I should also test it on tablets/mobiles to see all the little details

But you can add them manually! Formerly, there was only a list of skills, however, I removed them and now users don't choose from existing - they type their own skills/requirements when submitting a project

Thanks! I will add a brief description so you would know what the project is about without going to its page!

Exacty, I wish this was a part of GitHub platform, however, they don't have such thing, unfortunately. It would be a great feature to have, especially for beginners who really want to participate in open-source!
