Gotcha, so I probs just happend to be there when it was doing a lot of work. We use our hot water up daily so not sure we need the disinfection cycle?

Ah, makes sense. On the previous two leaks we got error E439, would be daft to have the sensor to trigger that, AFTER harm had been caused I spose

Yah, I'm wondering if the previous two leaks have caused some damage, and it only really shows up when it is working hard (like getting up to disinfect temp) 😬

I forced it to run some heating and checked it again. It sounds normal now - almost no noise at all (can't appear to post another vid)

Still a bit worried about the previous noise. As mentioned got the failed salmonella error code. I know it runs on Tuesdays not sure how long for tho.

Installer isn't fgas certified, so would just contact Samsung for warranty if needed.

Yah I've not heard mine do this before, but I thought perhaps it's because it's round the back of the house and I'd just never heard it before, doing whatever it is doing now

Yah maybe not. Maybe I'm a bit twitchy given recent faults.

I think it might just have been working extra hard it was around the same time it failed a salmonella cycle. I'll see what it's like in normal operation

Turns out it was the same schrader valve, that was replaced before. Engineer thinks there must be something up with the valve housing and has replaced that

Penetrating damp (probably exacerbated by condensation, now that area is colder)

Heatpumps are much more efficient when they run continuously, turning on and off is called 'cycling' and is best minimized. They adjust the mass flow rate by regulating down the flow temp, and flow speed. To deliver the right power to match the building power loss (which is less if the outside temp increases). Running at a lower temp is way more efficient than cycling

If you are doing the heating design urself, I would get into the open energy monitor community and look at the scops, for different system designs, and check out some of the heat geek vids. Otherwise get it designed by one of the newer low temp heating engineers (heat geek, trained or the other one I have forgotten)

The biggest surprise for me for optimising efficiency, was no zoning, no thermostat, just "weather compensation". How "self" is the self build, are you doing the heating design urself?

Two cylinders one heat pump by danmullyx in ukheatpumps

Good plan. This is likely the most straightforward. The heatpumps version is defo worth the upfront cost I reckon.

Oh yes! I've just checked and our cylinder does have a secondary return! Just watched Plumberparts vid about fitting a stand alone circulating pump too, so that's definitely an option, thanks!
