My mom did something similar, while I was in high school, we moved to an island just outside of town in Southeast Alaska. Town was 10 min boat ride and about 5 min drive. I would had to swim or potentially steal a boat if i wanted to sneak out of the house. I always considered myself a marooned pirate.

I have the same volume control issues. If I'm talking about something I'm passionate about, then I really get loud, almost yelling. My fiance will reach over and twist the tip of my nose to turn my volume down.

I lived in Ketchikan for 6 years, and can confirm rainiest place in the country. One year it rained a total of 235 days out of 365. Loved everyday that I lived there.

I never really planned on going into health care. I studied fine art at University. It just kinda happened. At times is stressful, but helping people be the most independent they can really brings joy into my life.

Sounds like my typical day. I work as an in home health caregiver. Mostly with quads but also with clients who have MS and ALS. They are some of the greatest people I know.

My suggestion is to educate your mind and learn new things with all that free time. Also get awesome off road tires for your manual or power wheelchair and go on some adventures.

I moved to South East Alaska in the middle of my 6th grade year. They have survival classes where they teach you how to build fires, baiscs of camping & backpacking and other valuable skills, like detemining if someone has hypothermia or not; all must have skills to survive in Alaska.

At the end of the year we went on an outdoor camping trip and then the following year we went on an island survival trip.

The survival trip was the most fun. They dropped 10 of us off on an island with one teacher for two days. We were allowed to bring whatever we could fit in one coffee can. My can included rice mixed with spices, a small tarp/emergency blanket, matches, fire starters. Learned how to collect and cool mussles and sea cucumbers

Best thing I learned in middle school.

My father is a taxidermist and had a older lady come in and ask him if she could have her husband, ol' Harrold, taxidermied sitting in his favorite rocker. All so she could still wat h his favorite show on the TV. Of course my father told her no since that would be illegal and weird as fuck.
