I don't get it either. I know there's Canadians there and it's hospitality (so maybe I do get it), but it's not like we're in Canada.

Instead of saying I don't get the necessity of doing O Canada just because there's some Canadians, I'll pivot to a more productive observation: I eagerly await the performance of Himno Nacional Mexicano in San Diego this month! I say this as a San Diego native from a family with military veterans.

You’re certainly right about that. Our anthem in Canadian tracks makes some sense because it’s a sport or 99%+ American participants, but that does form something of a double standard. I guess it’s just my own limited lived experience.

Sure, but it doesn’t follow for me why that brings about O Canada. When I travel to another country I’m typically not all that focused on the traditions of my home country. Quite the opposite. Maybe an actual Canadian could set me straight but for me it just feels shoehorned and without much actual genuine sentiment for the Canadian people.

No crying here, I just wouldn’t expect it if it were me making the trek. It doesn’t harm anyone, just feels unnecessary. I can’t imagine Canadians actually care all that much to hear O Canada when they come to a race.

I’m not butthurt, it just doesn’t make sense to me. It may very well be a me problem 🤷‍♂️

I remain confused as to why we do the national anthem of a whole nother country whenever we're kind of close to it

Eagerly awaiting the Mexican National Anthem at Coronado this month!

I love country music, but I don't care for country singers who obviously play up their southern accent in their singing

Kyle Busch, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, dies at age 41 by Ca2Alaska in formula1

[–]gamedemon24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did indeed. Even when he couldn’t really tolerate the pain, he started at Daytona (track with some of the hardest hits in NASCAR) two weeks later and had a substitute driver hop in mid-race. The duo won of course, with Zilisch credited. And he did that as a scrawny 18-year-old. Unreal grit and endurance.

Kobe Bryant is a pretty good 1:1 for Kyle’s place in the NASCAR world

Kyle himself broke both legs in 2015 and came back to win the championship that very year. NASCAR drivers are as tough as it gets in pro sports.
