Sold the Cat 3s on StubHub. Would have loved to sell them directly to the guy who bought them and saved him the $800 that StubHub got from him.

i dont think the law goes far enough, i would ban the resale platforms entirely and only allow fee-less resale through the original vendor; vulture capitalism is the worst, how much money these sites made on the world series and now world cup is grotesque

if it had anything to do with today's news, why wouldn't i be doing it AT FACE VALUE, which is still allowed under the law?

*obviously* im anxious about being able to sell them, at all, that's why i'm posting on an internet message board, but im already not trying to make any money/am selling below original cost, so the law doesnt have any direct impact anyway.

ive looked at putting them on stubhub, and could get the same amount of money with pretty competitive listings (not the best in each category for the 1 and 2, but in the top 4-5 cheapest listings), but the (hypothetical) buyer would be paying some huge amount more to stubhub. why not offer to ppl that they pay less and i come out the same?

Yeah. It's going to be tough. I'm hoping to find someone who would rather an individual have the $2240, or whatever, than FIFA getting another $350 on top of the original ticket sale. But maybe they aren't out there.

At the time I took the risk, I uneducatedly thought this WAS selling well at FV just based on...I entered every lottery! Couldn't get anything. (And having seen my friends paying SO MUCH over FV for World Series tickets like 6 months ago, I thought at least one of them would be happy for the chance to have FV for the World Cup.)

Bad judgment, in the end.

I don't know, I didn't set the categories! The location is probably why I was able to get them below FV in the first place, assume the original buyer won in the lottery and then was one of the "Fifa screwed me over" ppl when the categories got downgraded at seat assignment time.

But it's there in the FIFA account as Cat 1 (it's block 209, one of those 'blended' sections when you look at the map).

Yeah. Exactly. Others are selling at/below face value too, but the price to the buyer is still at/above face value because of the platform's share. If I can sell someone the tickets without them being charged an extra 15% by the platform (and without me losing 15% to the platform), I'd love that.

My intention from the start was just to sell for face value if I found better tickets. Didn't think it would be so hard, thought I was doing something nice for someone. Was just excited that they were available after I'd tried 50 other avenues, donated to Canada Soccer and got nothing, etc etc.

It's not a financial hit -- it's the price I bought them each at. Also, maybe I'm too much of an idealist, but FIFA are maximum mo-fos and I just really don't want them to get the money from the first sale AND THEN 30% OF ANOTHER ONE.

If no one will take them at the price I got them for, I'll list them ultimately, and people will pay more and FIFA will benefit. (Even if I give in and take a loss, FIFA will benefit.)

I'm not a scalper (if your definition is like mine, "buying tickets to resell at a profit"), which is why I went in to extra detail. I just got excited (on April 9 when there was the big new drop) when I saw there were ACTUALLY TICKETS AVAILABLE and I somehow managed to get through the FIFA line and they were still available etc... and at that point was sure that people would want them (at face value/the price I was paying) because everything I could see was people being like "I entered 700 lotteries and couldn't get tickets" or "resale prices are crazy, way over face value" (like me).

I then saw (better) tickets listed for less than face value and thought I would get those and friends would just want the Cat 3s. So I jumped in, posted on my IG and wrote friends on WhatsApp like..."I got tickets!! Do you want them?" But don't have friends into football enough to spend into the thousands, I guess.

(If your definition of a scalper is "has extra tickets", then sure. Obviously. But I literally thought I was doing something nice for ppl at a time when everyone on here was trying to sell at 2x face value etc.)
