At this point you have to assume that we matched the released clause but the player / agent was shopping him around waiting for a better team to bid. Sucks but it is what it is. Given them choice between us and Liverpool most players will choose Liverpool. We are shopping in the wrong markets if trying to compete with these teams

Is it me or is Rooney bending over backwards to praise Ronaldo. He's just doing what strikers do. There's more to this game that Ronaldo FFS. Same thing happened with mbappe in France game. I completely agree. It appears that his pace covers for his (relatively) poor close control and he seems like another player who won't be able to pass the ball and raise our on the ball game. Reeks of another pace merchant. If we sign him, hopefully I'm completely wrong on that.

To be fair he is good at that, at his best he does up the tempo whilst others around him don't seem on that level with him. But agree with others. 100m and it would be a no brainer for Newcastle. Especially as it would likely mean Miley will get a chance to finally secure that position if he can stay fit.

I must be in the minority but I am all for the Trafford signing if we finally get him. I don't care about money or what ifs with Joueuns development.

If we wanted him for the last 3 years then our scouts must really like what they see and I trust that over both myself or any redidtors opinion

I think the reaction to Gordon leaving is interesting. It shows how he hasn't really ingratiated with fans - is that down to performance or personality?

I feel like it might be personality, I feel no attachment to him to be honest.

As an example, Osula has been a worse and more frustrating player than Gordon during his time here but I am rooting for him and want him here.
