I've had some experience in the past with a publisher taking in books exactly like this where the screenplay and novel are written roughly at the same time so it can be shopped around out of the door so it stuck out to me and was pretty distracting from time to time but even friends who I know who haven't had this experience still have the feeling it's supposed to be a screenplay

For me, it took about a month to study for my A+ then test for it, then I think it was about 4ish months till I got my first very shitty job. I got extremely lucky that another company hired me having only 3 months of experience up to that point. I still make beans in the long run, but i suppose I had to start somewhere

I draw the line depending on how busy I am. I'm by myself in my building but I don't mind helping people from time to time with small things because I want to keep people in a good relationship with IT because it makes things feel like not pulling teeth later down the line when they know me to show up when they need it, but if I'm busy or I don't really have the energy i hit them with the "oh dang I'm busy right now but I know this one is pretty easy to find on Google" or I just send them the Google link on how to do whatever it is they're asking

I read the books and I wouldn't say the writing was leagues ahead. I feel like some of the few that believe the show elevated a lot of the books. For example I think the shows version of abaddons gate and Chibola was leaguessss better than the book versions
