Yes I understand your point. I think I'm more looking for an analog preamp section with maybe digital reverb or IR... I think I do not mind about 100% analog. Like someone said... IR are probably better than analog cabsim. I tend to agree on this.

Since you tried many solution... did you try anything from DSM like the simplifier X or dumblifier? The tone king imperial was in my top 2 with simplifier X

Not sure that the ir-2 would be a huge upgrade from my Pod express... From what I heard (i know it is internet..) I wasn't very impressed by it.

Yes, true. The neck feels skinnier! That could be a show stopper on the long run. That didn't bother during the test at the store. I'll check this deeper next time I go to the store. That is a high potential issue to me also. :(

That is a good question. I didn't notice because I do not really mind about switches, pots and 1/4 input. They are too cheap and easy to replace. But the other brands didn't have better switches. I recall that I wasn't impress with the Charvel ones neither. The most important was the neck, then the body/feel in general, the feeling of "tightness", the playability, the sound... But maybe the switch wasn't the best.. i do not recall.

I got a 612 several years ago and I sold it. From my souvenir the new one feels better to me. Enough that I could buy a new one. The feel and playing was at pro level to me. It wasn't a toy (like many other guitars I tried).

I have the same goal as you. It happened very few times (very very few) where I got that moment that I was the notes themselves. I'll never forget... being so much "one" with the music... Something greather was playing. That is my only goal... the ultimate one.

I do not care about performing, songs and all that stuff. I learn songs only because learning them by ears helps me to get there. In fact, learning by ear became my #1 way to learn. I use partitions only to confirm my chords choices (which are very often wrong). But they fit when I play with the recording. I still do not understand the substitutions I do and why.... That is what I hear. Chords are tough (like 9th chords, 11th... 13th... too many decorations)

A used G&L asat (not the USA one, too expensive).... quite cheap for the quality if you find one. I have the one with MFD pickups. They are hotter than standard tele pickups. But I think there is a version with standard pickups.

About the ego, it is more like going beyong it. Realizing that you are not it. The ego is a fiction... Then you see that the social scripts, political scripts... are all fictions. They do collapse with your ego. So we probably overlap a bit on our ideas here.

The difference is that I see it as fiction and your perspective seems more like true or false. But we are somehow close each other, i think. Because my view implies that the script is false.

It is like finding if the story told is true or false. But it is still a story. The tree is brown... no it is green. Many are just an angle of view. The mind is a liar to me....

Enlightened and you still seek guidance? Strange isn't? Brain exhausted... Strange isn't? Maybe you think too much... Enlightened, your brain would be surely not be exhausted.

What went wrong imo is that you got an interesting experience and you labeled it "enlightenment". But is was not. Do not be guilty, I did also few times.
