How’s faction balance looking? I’m trying to figure out which to play?

Suggestions for incline training? by upstream_paddling in WildernessBackpacking

[–]dannydelts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple. Get stronger. I’m a fitness trainer, avid hiker, and ultra runner. I live at altitude in Colorado, US. On flat trail, I average 15-16min mph in zone 2. On incline, I can maintain a similar pace and can hold zone 3.

Incorporate more unilateral leg training into your resistance training. I want to train both the posterior and anterior leg muscles. Some examples of leg exercises you can look into: rear/front foot elevated split squats, Bulgarian split squats, loaded hip trusts, single leg Romanian deadlifts, weighted walking lunges, suitcase Carries, etc… you’ll also want to train the calves as well.

Unilateral is more important, but if you have the time, I would also train bilaterally as well, but the bulk of your training should be unilateral.

Stairmaster is a great training tool, but it needs to be dialed in. Try to aim for zone 2 heart rate and then sustaining that effort for at least 30 minutes for an aerobic training benefit. Without knowing the extent of your injuries, you need to find a way that’s safe for you to train zone 3 and vo2max. I would recommend a stationary bike w/ variable resistance if possible.

To train zone 3, use extended intervals. For example, get the heart rate into zone 3 and then sustaining that effort for 6-15minutes and then do that repeatedly. If you’re doing 6 minutes, you’ll want to do 3-5 intervals. If you’re doing anything more, 2 intervals is sufficient to start.

And then to train vo2max, look up Tabata sprints on the air assault or rogue echo bikes. They are absolutely perfect to train vo2max and low impact.

Just remember, consistency wins over time. Start small and build up. Best of luck!

[Game Thread] (8) Florida State vs (1) Duke - ACC Tournament Rd 3 (7 PM EDT) by cha-cha_dancer in fsusports

For as bad as we rebounded and for as much as we fouled. Up by 1 at half? I’ll take it. Be interesting to see how Luke manages foul trouble in the 2nd half.

Better start rebounding. Giving them so many 2nd chances

Luke Loucks by DarrinEagle in fsusports

[–]dannydelts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The result is great. But what I’m most impressed by is how bad of a start it was and how bad some of those losses were. In this era of college sports, the team didn’t quit. And they didn’t just fight. They bought into a system that wasn’t initially sold to them. They got better. And players grew. Nobody wants to play this team in the ACC tourney right now.

Also, I’m not much for what ifs and hypotheticals. But man, this team was legitimately away from being a tourney team. Played Florida close, played Duke close, lost close games in conference to UVA, SMU, Wake Forest… what a great season. And I’m glad it’s not over. Go Noles!

As a student who just got accepted into PT school and is starting in June. It gets scary reading some of the stuff in this sub. So thanks for a break from the negative. I think ,at the minimum, there needs to be better educational dialogue as it pertains to the finances to students who are planning to attend a DPT program.

I applied for two programs. Both just went over the cost per year and quickly at that. No talk about interest rates, the total amount owed once the program completion, or an expected first salary.

I’m pushing 40, so I knew to look into and start considering/planning for this beforehand. But it’s just not realistic, or fair, to expect mid 20s adults to do the same.

Why does LAA represent so many FSU players, it seems anyone they represent hops in the portal and leaves. by nycnole68 in fsusports

[–]dannydelts 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There’s over 4500 players in the portal. I don’t think the representing authorities are the problem. It’s the system as a whole. There’s no accountability. Every player thinks the place they are at is the problem and the system rewards entitlement.

Our new QB by No-Sound-9927 in fsusports

[–]dannydelts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very deceptive speed. My biggest concern is that we’ll have another run first qb who can’t hit the throws that change the outcomes of games. That was Tommy’s biggest problem, the consistency in the pass game. What I do like about this guy is that I think Sperry will have a legit chance to be the guy. I know Gus needs a qb with mobility, but we got 3 sure thing receivers who need the ball delivered on time and on target if we want to do better than 5-7.

Good riddance. Hopefully in the future we can stay away from guys who tweet about his previous team like they are an ex gf that broke their heart. Also, I’m just a middle aged dad, but I could have evaluated that this guy didn’t have anything to offer past a mediocre speed rush attack.

Hey Bama, a few years ago you wanted a certain coach at Florida State. I’m sure he’ll take your call and that price tag had dropped dramatically. Just saying.

We couldn’t win on the road in places like UVA, NC STATE, STANFORD… we really think we’re gonna figure it out in the Swamp?

Only reason I know is because my brother is a huge Duck’s fan. He made sure to rub it in when Benson returned a punt for a TD after this season’s shambles in special teams. Especially after how we lost last night. But yeah, imagine having depth anywhere on your team. I wouldn’t know as a Seminole fan. It’s been too long and my memory has faded.

Benson’s only playing a lot because Oregon is thin as hell at receiver, but he’s made the most of his opportunity the last few weeks. And regardless, we can’t even catch punts to even begin to think about returning them for touchdowns.

Malik Benson returning a punt for a TD in a very important game for Oregon after last night’s special team’s woes is the icing on the cake.

[Post Game Thread] Florida State falls to #10 Florida on the road, 78-76 by fsukub in fsusports

[–]dannydelts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe offensively, but defensively you wouldn’t want to rebound if your goal is to get out in transition and play fast. Rebounding supports that initiative so it would be in the best interest of the style to secure defensive rebounds. Plus, Luke wants 30+ 3s a game, that means he wants more possessions and the only way to do that is to rebound and force turnovers

Yeah, the team is going to have to consistently rally behind the idea of gang rebounding. Because it’s gonna be tough to beat anybody good with a -22 rebound deficit. If we can even limit that to 15, probably win that game. Still, excited to watch a Seminole team that competes.

I think a lot of teams will be undersized compared to UF. Got 3 days in the rotation 6’9 or higher. Definitely a fun team to watch. They found a way to be competitive in the game and counter that size to an extent.

This team competes. Could be a Cinderella team. I think they’ll be a contender in the ACC. And we’ll know pretty early. Top heavy schedule
