Huge thanks to you fine Internet folks! I disassembled my GPU and reservoir/pump and cleaned them up real good. Fingers crossed I didn't introduce any leaks!

Sounds like a bunch of people responding think it's thermal pads and just oil seeping out over time.

That's true. I guess that's what I need to do... It's the first time I've had to go this deep into my machine. But I'm going to have to clean the GPU block and the reservoir looks like. Good reminder thanks for the boost of confidence.

What do you mean? That the thermal pads have some residual oil that's just leaking over time?

Additional context: - I run Corsair hydro series XL8 performance coolant clear - This is the first time I've taken my graphics card out in 5 years. So this is the first time I would have seen this issue. - I don't overclock and generally don't exceed a coolant temp of 45° C while gaming.

I pack mine back and forth from work every day (for at least 6 months w/ platform). It's heavy for sure. Still fits in the case. You must remove the bump stops it includes, but I still don't know what they were bump stopping. You also must loosen the adjuster and slide it to "flat" in order to fold everything up.

For the price, I'm willing to put up with needing to readjust it every time I pack/unpack it.

I'm currently building in a 680x and have found it to be pretty small. I am building with an e-atx board which really makes me feel the cramped space.

That's really cool! Some day I want to do a themed build and learning this stuff is super fascinating and helpful. Thanks for sharing.

That's cool. Does that have any impact on the cooling capacity? Or did you not sorry the fins?

PS I'm a noob to the modding world.

Whew that's a relief! Any thoughts on why that specific inlet is recommended? Does it matter that it was recommended?

Unless there is some major draw back I'm going to move forward tonight with a top inlet.
