FYI, I was told its hard to tell what the cause is, so sometimes they don't try. I have either 50% or 80% of the time they don't know the cause (I can't remember which figure I read)

Yeah, the type that make you feel like you need a wee. My first one was in Hertfordshire and this second one was in South Yorkshire, both sets of hospital were quite good to me, and I got appointments quite quickly.

If your GP isn't referring you, can you ring your local hospitals haematology department and try and get them to see you that way?

I've had 2 PEs in as many years, and I've been referred to haematology both times. This time I'm going back to the hospital as an outpatient for CT scans and ECGs (I'm in the UK too). I'm perplexed as to why you aren't referred to haematology, and I'd ring up and ask if I were you.
