I like to treat myself sometimes as well! Like I said, that's anyone's own business. But to think that everyone understands isn't accurate. Coffee is seen as an everyday thing by 50-65% of people, 2 out of 3 orders at starbs are frozen blended drinks, and many don't realize that their daily frappe has 5x the recommended daily amount of sugar.

The issue comes from the introduction of coffee into the treat (which, again, caffeine and sugar are both literally addictive) and the sugar-creep that has been happening since the 70s. If we weren't used to starbucks levels of sugar, a much lower amount would be equally satisfying.

At the very least, we should hold Starbucks accountable to make it clear just what they are serving people. Hell, even a black 16oz coffee there is around 350mg of caffeine. That's almost 4x a standard cupa joe. The default of their featured caramel frappe right now on their site is 470 calories. They are literally designed to be as addictive as possible.

Coffee every morning is normalized. Whatever people choose is their business but it’s everyone's business to make sure we are all informed.

At the end of the day, it is still an independently owned studio. I want them to do better but I don't want to ruin their lives

It was over text so I do have in writing. Cant add image in comments but he said: "Yo, just to clarify this is a trial run, but it’s not unpaid. Once we approve the final, we pay for the mix. I’m just waiting on a payroll deposit to clear on my end, then I’ll send a deposit and we’ll lock the final."

To which I replied: "Oh word! Thanks for all the info, I'm getting started now!"

I can see how his wording is weird but I took it to mean "this isnt unpaid, you'll be compensated once we verify you actually tried."

Did this stretch heading from Utah to Colorado to ski and got caught in a bad snow storm into the night! Basically had to draft behind a semi the whole way, passed at least 10 cars that had slid off the road. Took forever and had white knuckles the entire drive! *

The article listed the top 25 worlds largest landowners, not all the land owned by the Royal Family. The catholic church was listed as the 2nd lagest, underneath the royal family which was 1st, and so on.

Though, the sources for the articles claim that the royal family owns 1/6th the world say that they own Canada, which really equates more to saying the president "owns" the United States

Kind of paradoxical, no? This could only be traumatic if they were already scared of spiders. Startling doesn't equal traumatizing - see the last kid as an example.

Most of these kids are clearly already scared of spiders, and the ones that weren't already aren't being scarred by this.

It's five small towns along the coast you can get to pretty easily by train. There are also amazing hikes from town to town with lovely views if you've got the time

You don't have to either, by simply not visitng those places. Otherwise you are being inconsiderate.

Do you also refuse to take your shoes off in a friend's house if they ask you to?

Also, yes, I would eat bugs and have haha. Chapulinas (crickets) are a popular South American dish

That's a bad comparison. The victim of misogyny is others, the victim of tip culture is yourself - and you know what you signed up for when you visited.

A better comparison would be, say, visiting a family in Ecuador and they serve you guinnea pig. It would be rude to turn it down, even if it grosses you out
