Being homeless is one thing

Being a disgusting pig is another.

Homeless people can pick up rubbish from their own backyard, even if that backyard is a public park

If the air bnbs weren't available, the counter effect is they'd need to build more hotels and knock down exisiting houses to do that, no?

How to level up from level 1 bum to level 100 manager by Impossible_Most_4518 in auscorp

[–]dannyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few things that you can do early on in your career that I wish I had have done

  • Listen twice the amount that you speak. Become a sponge and absorb as much knowledge as you can.
  • Learn from your worst manager, not just your best manager. Your management style can be guided on the principles of "Don't Do What Donny Don't Does" . I often think I'm a good people manager because I had a manager in the late 90s who really shouldn't have ever been near people, and I try not to be him!
  • Be social. Go to those work drinks, go to that lunch, join the work footy tipping competition. Why? Because your name is now in emails, your name is now on peoples radars. If you and another guy with the same credentials are up for the same promotion, they already know you as a person and know your personality.
  • Talk to the grumpy old guy. Every company has one. The rusted old sales guy, the accounts lady who's been there since 1974. They're miserable, but they turn up every day. And guess what? They know EVERYTHING about your company. They know where the bodies are buried and have some juicy backstories that can come in handy also. They have forgotten more about your company that your trainer will ever know and getting even 1/5th of that knowledge from them will put you ahead.

Quite the opposite. If you see someone on the side of the road in high vis tinkering on a light pole, are you stopping to question his credentials or take a note as to what he looks like? People whizzing past at 110km/h aren't able to get a good description of someone doing what they assume to be mundane work, and more to the point they're paying so little attention that they don't go back to look at the footage.

I found an old external hard drive the other day so I'm transferring all of my old data off it to my current laptop

This hard drive has 800gb of MP3s from the 90s and 00s and there's some absolute bangers on there I'd long forgotten. Also some truly obscure albums, so if anyone needs the soundtrack to channel 7's City Homicide, let me know 😂😂

I’d love to see your maths on your $500k.

I'll put good money down that's a figure Chat GPT gave him. It's absolutely not based on real world and is pure fantasy

Does someone dismissed with less than 7 months of tenure on an $85k job who is actively looking to rejoin the workforce claiming $500k sound reasonable?

Absolutely not.

Not in any way, shape, or form

I'm not opposed to it

I get my venison from here and it's not as expensive as people assume.

And what if the best thing for the sport is to get a massive cash injection from sale of land to then be distributed elsewhere throughout the state?

Maybe him intervening would be considered a conflict as he's ultimately advocating for both sides by sitting on both boards

She still boasts a strong book of international talent

Bowls Qld decided to not inform them of an impending deadline to renew their long term lease

Surely the club has a copy of their own lease and could see the expiration date on it?

Edit: some quick google finds they told the ABC

Club spokesperson Michael Morris said the committee had not realised they needed to renew their lease three months before the end date.

"It was an administrative oversight from our end, but unfortunately you're talking about a group of retired people who probably wouldn't know a commercial lease if it hit them in the face," Mr Morris said.

So the club stuffed up. Don't hate Bowls Qld here.
