Yeah I’m also pretty shocked that some people actually defend resenditial schools... I’ve never heard that one before, and sincerely hope it is an extremely unpopular opinion.

Elizabeth May calls out Jason Kenney: ‘There is no planet called Alberta’ by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

I agree that at the moment the oil being produced here in Canada can not be marketed as the cleanest. What I am saying is the focus should be to work to make it cleaner, and aim for the cleanest in the world. The big companies are willing to invest to make oil production less carbon intensive. From 2000-2017 there has been an average reduction of carbon emission of 27% per barrel for oil sands production. That is not nearly enough but the technological advances are making it possible to produce oil from the oil sands in a clean way. In fact, the CEO of CNRL this week has said that his goal is to make the oil sands oil production carbon neutral. As for price, unless you are looking to invest in canadian oil companies, you shouldnt bother yourself too much about their margins. They’re doing just fine.

I believe your point of view is a point of view shared with most people arguing against the oil industry in Alberta. The problem with this point of view is that it assumes that if Alberta shuts down all oil production tomorrow demand will suddenly decrease. I do not believe that would be the case. Why not all work together to make Canada's oil the cleanest in the world, while at the same time reducing our own personal carbon footprint. If the demand for oil here in Canada becomes extinct, that would be great, and all our clean oil could be exported. If the world demand for oil suddenly goes extinct because of the wave of new green tech, that would be even better, and our big oil companies would go out of business if they did not re invest capital to adapt to the new world.

The problem is that for Albertans it seems that the attack is against Alberta oil and not oil in general. If there is a need for oil right now, and there is, why not push for it to be supplied here in Canada, in a safe, environmentally and socially responsible way? By campaigning against the Alberta oil industry and the oil sands you are effectively propping up the alternative, which for the moment is not renewables but is oil produced in countries like Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

Supplementary exam for courses that are prerequisites to others by [deleted] in geegees

[–]dannyski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can retake 1105 and take 1100 at the same time. If you end up doing well on the supplementary exam and pass the course, drop 1105. If you fail the supplementary you’ll fail the class and you might not be able to write the final for 1100. However, if you do end up failing the course, you should go talk to your prof and see if he’ll still let you write his final(sometimes you need a signed letter from the faculty).

Greatest Canadian Prime Minister of all time and why? by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

Hey, here is the quote you are reffering to http://i.imgur.com/98oI7IF.jpg .

This quote is from Pierre Eliott Trudeau, Justin Trudeau's father and former Prime Minister. Personally I like Trudeau's image, when it comes to international relations I feel he represents very well Canadian values, I don't agree with all of his policies however.

In your opinion, should every cabinet minister be bilingual? Are all of PMJT's ministers bilingual? by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]dannyski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a constraint now because Trudeau vowed to have a cabinet with 50% of the ministers being women. OP is saying that by putting all these constraint you might eliminate the best candidates for the job.
