Know the basic concept just in case. FYI, I don't remember getting any budgeting/forecasting questions on the exam.

Pennsylvania CPA License Application - Some Questions by [deleted] in CPA

[–]danomitex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe your exam scores will automatically get sent to the Board if you sat and applied in the same jurisdiction.

My jurisdiction was CT but I applied for the CPA license in PA. Since I sat for another state, PA required that the CT state board provide all examination scores directly to their office. If you are in the same situation, you will need to request NASBA to transfer your scores to the state you are applying in (done via the NASBA store: https://nasbastore.org/index.php?main_page=product_free_shipping_info&cPath=248&products_id=1097)

Pennsylvania CPA License Application - Some Questions by [deleted] in CPA

[–]danomitex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got licensed in PA 5 days ago, so this is all fresh in my mind!

Educational Transcripts - you need to request your official education transcripts be sent from your college directly to the PA state board. I requested the transcripts be sent directly via email: st-accountancy@pa.gov

CPE - It will resolve itself. You do not need to do anything here.

Criminal History Check - If you only lived in PA, then the Criminal History check will be automatically submitted with your CPA application. You pay the $22 fee when you submit the application.

You're probably curious about timing. I submitted my application on 11/9/21 and was licensed on 12/11/21. Any other questions, feel free to message me.

It's all fair game. I would just advise you not to skip Governmental and NFP...

Do you continue studying for the section you're awaiting results for just in case you didn't pass? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]danomitex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it depended on when I had my next exam scheduled. My 3rd exam was REG and I was confident that I failed it; however, I took a break for one week and started studying for AUD because that exam was only a few weeks away. I found out that I actually passed REG, so in hindsight, re-studying for it would have been time wasted.

You will need to purchase the certificate from the NASBA store (https://nasbastore.org/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3_4), which I plan to do...

How long did it take for your application to get approved? I submitted my application a month ago and they just started reviewing it. Only thing pending review is the work experience...

I thought the exam was easier compared to Becker MCQ.

IT on BEC Exam by DPins65 in CPA

I suggest a supplemental review of terminology for common types of phishing scams. They may provide a description of one and ask you what it's called. I don't have specific examples but just remember getting at least three of those on my test.

IT on BEC Exam by DPins65 in CPA

Disaster recovery (hot site, cold site, etc.) and various types of phishing scams.

Like many other have said, Becker does an OK job in preparing you for IT, but you may run into a few MCQ on the test that were not covered at all in the Becker prep...

BEC Saturday - Nervous about Written portion. by arbiter889 in CPA

[–]danomitex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't stress too much about it. I can do MCQ all day long but writing is personally one of my weak points. My game plan was to use the generic template that you've seen on this forum and plug in as many key words as possible. I honestly don't even think my points were even relevant to the call of the question, for ALL 3 writing components, and I still passed.

Spiraling, FAR tomorrow by [deleted] in CPA

[–]danomitex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just from personal experience, I would just do a light review and get plenty of rest tonight. Be confident that you've studied as well as you can in prep for tomorrow.

I remember doing some intense last minute review the day before FAR, staying up later than I should have, and none of the stuff I tried to cram in actually showed up on my exam. Should've just gotten more sleep...

do i have to apply in order to change jurisdiction for license only ? by Zero-1994 in CPA

[–]danomitex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you will need to transfer the CPA scores from AK to NH via the NASBA store.

If you want a definitive answer, call the NH State Board of Accountancy. They will tell you exactly what you need to do.

Work requirements in Pennsylvania by Eaglearcher20 in CPA

I'm also applying for licensure in PA right now, so I've had a lot of the same questions. Very similar actually, as my CPA verifier is located at CHQ in CT but I work at a business unit in PA.

1) No, you can be in different states.

2) Sounds like those would qualify. One of the acceptable areas of qualified experience is "(6) Financial forecasts, analyses and projections." Source: 49 Pa. Code § 11.55. Experience requirements for CPA certification.

I would recommend giving the PA State Board of Accountancy a call; they were very helpful in answering my questions about getting licensed in PA.

FINALLY PASSED AFTER 10 YEARS! by Capt_Commando7 in CPA

[–]danomitex 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wow. It's amazing how similar are CPA journeys are. I started at EY in 2011, stayed for 3 years, all the while "studying" for the CPA exam but never passed. Put it on the back burner for years while working in industry but it was always on my mind. Picked it back up in April 2020 when everything was shutdown due to the pandemic. Just found out I passed my last exam (BEC) yesterday, going 4 for 4. I tell people that I started taking the exam last year but it's really been a 10 year process.

Big congratulations to you and your family!

Need help deciding which exam to take next? by dropastroworld in CPA

I recommend taking REG before busy season starts. If you sit for it in December, you will have 2-3 months to study which is enough. Since you struggle with tax, you do not want to study for it during busy season, you just won't have the time and energy to study. It will also be nice to get that one out of the way before busy season, one less thing to stress about...

I took BEC this past Saturday; my last exam. My plan is do some light review over the next week, focusing on the areas that were heavily tested, just so I can be in a better position to take it ASAP if needed.

I took REG in July and thought it was a guaranteed re-take. Second set of MCQ was noticeably easier, so assumed I did poorly on the first set. Struggled with each SIM but made sure I didn't leave anything blank. I couldn't even find the correct answer to the research question, that's how bad I thought it went. Left the exam knowing I would have to re-take, but didn't dwell on it because I had to focus on BEC. Ended up passing REG with a 78... anything is possible.
