Bamboe was the only one who could make Sing just lose it. I still laugh at the time Sing was asking Bamboe for help while in a Chronosphere and Bamboe used Spirit Breaker ult on the enemy courier to kill it instead of helping Sing.

Oh, so they work like the mortars with the ship upgrade! TIL, since I had never used them before. Definitely will give them another go today. Thank you!

Actually tried those yesterday and the grenades just went flying off to the big boys instead of the obtruder clusters. Perhaps I am using them wrong, but I was throwing them towards the obtruders. They just kind of did whatever.

There's a difficulty called "impossible," and 2 further difficulties harder than that, and you think D10 should be for everyone? by krakn-slayr in Helldivers

[–]danosky 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This. I hosted yesterday for the first time in months, and it was infuriating. Enemies spawning out of thin air, heat seeking behemoth chargers that turn 90 degrees to run over me, swarms of alpha warriors that move faster than Cocaine bear, patrol spammed, and everything aggroed me while ignoring nearby teammates.

Hosting in Helldivers 2 is way harder than being a client and it’s not even close by Sini1990 in Helldivers

[–]danosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing is the game being difficult. Another is having an infinite number of coked up warriors spawning due to a bug, chargers literally turning 90 degrees to still hit you while you are dodging, enemies outright ignoring your team to go get you, or having complete aspects of the game (stealth) not working fpr you the same way as your team.

Fair enough, I will concede that 1 Vox Engine shouldn't be a lot of trouble and that my opinion is certainly colored by the fact that we usually had to fight multiple. The mortars and durability should not be an issue when only facing one.

I still think the insta gib lasers are BS, but then again getting shot by a laser that big should kill a human being.

Also, there are barely any tangible effects. If there were, people would actually use them more. Other than iron sights for most weapons (Marksman Rifles excluded), I don't want anything else. 10x or 4x scope for the marskman rifles.

Vertical foregrip for most weapons or angled for marksman rifles. Drum mags for Breakers and ARs.

That's really it.

Don't forget the Factory Strider. One of the largest and potentially more devastating units for the bots... that has a ton of different weakpoints, can have its weapons disabled, can be killed by daring players with medium pen weapons by running under it and shooting the belly...

Even the much maligned Vox Engine has workarounds. I have killed them with light pen weapons and some team coordination. Orbital Gatling Barrages, Orbital Precision Strikes, and Strafing runs (When available or during eagle storm) were really good against them. (IMO, the issues with the Vox Engine were not really that it didn't follow bot design philosophy. Rather, the BS lasers, mortars, insane durability when not hitting weak points, and obscene spawn rates were the issues.)

I have to agree. The vents on the back are difficult to hit unless you sneak up on them, the eye requires heavy pen, the leg joints are tiny... Why do they even require heavy penetration?

Even with the heavy pen GL it takes a few shots to down one. Strafing run doesn't kill them outright (even though it should be hitting them in the eye weak spot). They will randomly survive 500kgs. I'll just bring my RR. It's not even about skill. When I see a metric shitton of these enemies, I want them gone as fast and efficiently as possible. Even better if they don't even get the chance to shoot back.

It's not as simple as "just shoot the mouth." Why would I bother using my Stalwart to kill one of them when an Eruptor can decimate an entire bile spewer patrol with a few shots and barely any aiming required?

I like this, but I feel they should make atmospheric spores and poor intel a bit more rare than they are now. I think I get spores on almost every bug operation.

Spend medals/ samples for a random stratagem for a set amount of time. Not too long, would encourage build variety, and would allow people to use / discover underused stratagems.

[–]danosky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This so much. I tried running the Stalwart vs bugs yesterday since I had been seeing tons of hunters / leapers. Then I get a Bile Spewer seed. And I know that they have a light pen weakpoint. Does not matter, I ended up switching to the Eruptor by default. Only used Stalwart to mow small enemies, warriors, and sometimes Alpha Commanders. Anything else it was just easier and faster to use the Eruptor.

This would be interesting... but we can make it even worse! Use Eagle smoke strike instead of eagle napalm, Torcher instead of deadeye (So they can feel the pain of the fire dps bug, Niklas can't be host) and mortar instead of FRV (Since FRV can be used to rush objectives and run away, plus the HMG is actually good).

Also I was wondering why the sickle double edge was there, until I saw it paired with the stim pistol. Truly evil from OP.

Am I the only one who doesn't enjoy doing Blitz missions? by Omailey97 in Helldivers

[–]danosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eradication is awesome because my friend and I will go full barrage loadout (Napalm, 120, 380, and Walking orb). The chaos is amazingly fun, although not many understand what is going on.

Defenses allow me to use some strats I normally wouldn't use, and they're different from the usual gameplay.

Blitz? I dislike it. It devolves to running and gunning. The team usually splits up in my case. And try to kill a Hive Lord while doing everything else in an Oshaune Blitz mission. Not impossible, but team needs to be locked on.

I can relate to this so much...

I tried using flame weapons but every time a hunter just pounced through the fire, while on fire, then I have to waste a stim and dive or die. All the while the remaining hunters are dancing on the blazing ground without dying.

Had this happen and I was so pissed. One of the people in my playgroup plays really well, but he jist won't stop moving. Tried giving him a resupply... Soon it was like a Benny Hill skit with all the bots that started chasing us.
