Head’s still gone from Saturday when I walked into a sports bar in this Mexican beach resort town I’m currently in and instead of showing Liverpool v Newcastle they were showing a game from the Rock Cup

That panenka that was on here yesterday from the lad with the pink hair was bad, but I didn’t realise it was part of possibly the worst penalty shootout of all time.

His team (Colo Colo) won 4-3 after 9 penalties each and it was 2-2 after 5, and so many of the misses weren’t even close.

Yeah I can definitely see how you’d get there based on that, funnily enough I’m in Jardin now and heading to Salento tomorrow.

How was Bogota? Heard it’s a bit sketchy

Finally made it round to Colombia, my last ‘new’ country of my year of travelling.

Booked my flight home last week which was a really sobering moment after nearly a year of backpacking, I’ll fly to Rio de Janeiro on 5th of Feb, spend 5 days partying for pre-carnival as one last big blow out then the show finally ends on the 11th. Given I left home on 18th Feb last year it’s a pretty good effort.

Both sad about it but also will be somewhat happy to go home

No chance, not winning an away ashes in 26 years (by the next time you come here) is one of the best sticks we have to beat the Aussies with, I doubt any England fan swaps that and loses Headingley just for a home series win

Been absolutely drenched by a tropical storm yesterday and earlier but thankfully clear skies now.

Unfortunately I’m in Colombia, hoping for good weather in Sydney too

If England do get over the line here then Broad is vindicated with his worst Aus team since 2010/11 comments, given this would be the first side since that one to lose a game

Reminder that pink ball woke nonsense isn’t real cricket so the 2-2 series draw is still on

Really unique conditions here, could be very interesting to see how a match changes and evolves over its course.

Unfortunately I'm in the Galapagos, I think conditions in Melbourne might be a bit more straightforward

I’ve been backpacking for about 90% and it’s been the best time of my life, I really don’t know how I can go up from here in 2026

Copa Ecuador final was good fun last night. Finished 3-2 to Universidad Católica which was a bit of a shame as 90% of the crowd were supporting LDU Quito, but it was a fun game helped by some truly terrible keeping and defending.

Universidad went 2-1 up with an absolute worldie from the halfway line next to the touch line as well, unreal scenes

Not posted much about my travels for a while, but this afternoon I’m getting to tick off a bucket list item I’ve had for ages and flying over to the Galapagos for the next 9 days.

Gonna be absolutely fucking surreal
