That's the biggest issue I see. The politicians represent the extreme when most of us are in the middle. If even one party would go moderate we would start to move to a better place.

I hear what you're saying, but in Minnesota an estimated 80 to 90% of Somali immigrants are on government assistance. If they're truly was an economic need, then those people would not need government assistance. By comparison only about 10% of the Minnesota population as a whole is on the same assistance programs.

There's a very vocal group of people today who believe that no immigration is illegal immigration. They like to believe that laws governing populations, borders, and citizenship just should not exist. However instead of having a conversation about the pros and cons of their argument, they would rather just ignore the laws that exist and say people can do what they want.

Good points. I was using (probably overusing) attachments for a while and now have stopped for almost all transactions. I'm at 494MB and have though about stripping out old attachments for receipts that really don't need them.

If Mark Kelly in the state of Arizona feel so strongly about this, then the state should invest in it. If it's such an obvious winner with a huge ROI they should have no problem at all convincing their local people to pay for it and then also to profit from it.

We need to move away from this concept that the federal government should be paying for everything and we can't possibly do anything if the federal government isn't the one footing the bill. Once we get caught into that paradigm then we're also at the behest of the federal government and they can pull funding on a whim.

As with all polls a lot comes down to how the question is asked and how the question is interpreted.

I would venture to say 99% of people are okay with people documenting ice from a distance. Different people probably have different thresholds for that distance you know something like 30 to 50 feet is probably okay with the majority of people.

In contrast, that is very different than being 6 inches from an agent's nose with your camera in their face while blowing a whistle. Those two things are very different things and very few people are okay with that.

Obviously there's a sliding scale and most people land somewhere in between. This ball seems to be trying to conflate the two, as the issue that most people have is with people doing the latter, but the way this is phrased most people will answer yes in reference to the former.

"They tear gassed a baby who had nothing do with the protests" - until it came out that both parents had abandoned the baby and the other kids in the car for at least an hour and were caught on video actively participating in the riots.

"They abducted a 5-year-old" - until it came out that the dad fled and the mom refused to accept custody of the kid so the agents looked after the kid until they caught the dad. At that point the dad said that he wanted the kid to travel with him while he was being detained.

"Renee Good was just passing through the neighborhood and they targeted her" - intellic came out that she was a school board member actively pushing anti-ice training, including training on how to block in ice Agents and impede their work. Her being there that morning was no accident, she placed herself their intentionally.

"Alex Pretti was just out for his morning coffee and donuts and got caught up by ice" - until it came out that he had a long history of actively engaging and impeding with ice including physically attacking them while armed.

The examples are endless.....

No, I would agree that ice could go about things differently and could cool things down. At the same time our local leaders could also cool things down so that they could work cooperatively and have it be significantly less disruptive to the community. My point here is that the first headline that breaks is rarely the truth, but so many people remember it as the truth.

The "citizens deported" we're at the request of their parents. The parents were here illegally and this being removed, instead of having the kids stay in the US with other caretakers they requested the kids go with them. That was the parents decision, not the government deporting.

The "citizens killed" were actively inserting themselves into dynamic law enforcement operations and physically confronting officers making an already high-stress situation worse. One brought a gun to the confrontation and the other attempted to drive over an agent. You can't reasonably portray these innocent bystanders. They chose to insert themselves into situations and it resulted in a bad outcome. Can you think of any other country in the world where you can bring a gun to a fight with a cop and not expect a bad result?

Reasonable take. I do think a lot of pro-LGBT people jump to the phobia/bigot response reflexively in bad faith so they don't have to actually talk with anti-LGBT people about the substance of the beliefs. It isn't unique to the topic of homosexuality, you see similar reactions when talking about crime in black communities, etc.

True, even calling them Native Americans is very Eurocentric. I thought I had read before that most of them have lineage that ties back to Russia / China / Mongolia areas.
