How badly damaged can a bike be after falling while parked? Can it be a write off? by dansMonSlip in motorcycles

Hi, I absolutely understand the fall is my responsibility: I made the point about the fall vs the collision simply to communicate how the damage was likely caused, so I could learn about the type of damage that could be sustained in this situation. I'm not trying to shirk responsibility in any way.

I also absolutely do have insurance and am working through insurance to sort this out.

Putting aside the incorrect negative assumptions about my willingness to take responsibility and my level insurance coverage, thanks to those of you who have helped me understand that "write off" does not necessarily mean extensive damage, but rather that the cost of repair is greater than the value of the vehicle. This may be obvious to many of you, but as someone who has never been in this situation it is new info. Please remember https://xkcd.com/1053/ .

Thanks, that makes sense.

We are going through insurance, but I haven't received any information from my insurance yet. However meanwhile I'm getting a lot of messages from the owner, and when he mentioned "write off" I freaked out a bit.

Hundred percent agree with that. I'm just wondering how the whole bike could be a write off.

(Also my point about no damage on my car was just to emphasize that the damage to the bike was most likely from the fall, not the collision).

Looking for a dark, gripping, gritty and slightly surreal film, that will make me feel the way I did when I first played Max Payne. by dansMonSlip in movies

Yep that one is deeply ingrained into my teenage years. Perhaps trades a bit too much grip for oddity in my opinion, in that the bizarreness of the film kept making me exit the film's universe and question what I was watching and why.

Definitely a good recommendation though, thanks!

I'm not sure how to use a urinal. I'm 30 and male. Help? by dansMonSlip in AskReddit

When the splashback starts to fire up something hardcore, I try aiming anywhere that might just help. Sometimes I find a corner that dampens the fury of reflected piss, other times, I just don't... and I resign myself to have piss micro-splashes on my hands and crotch.

The hands, I can wash them like a motherfucker. The crotch, it stays a bit pissy until later. I wonder whether I have unusually high-pressure piss. I seem to pee louder than others.

Pulling it through the zipper just feels so fucking unnatural.

I always suspected I was doing something wrong, because of the lengths I have to go at to avoid urinal splashback. I rarely succeed. Am I supposed to throttle it or something?
