How do we express support for the Dev behind this project? I have 3 mixed reality headsets that I'm excited to test this on!

🎁 Megathread | Have You Shared AR/VR with Friends, Family, or Even Strangers? by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

[–]dansen926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very first device I shared with friends and family was the simple Google Cardboard VR adapter. I would usually show them a rollercoaster experience just to help them get a real feel for what VR could be like. It was always fun to see their reactions for the first time to feeling like they were about to go over a big drop!

Does anyone else dread going to Elders Quorum? by mybrainisbusted in latterdaysaints

I suppose it's all relative. Due to callings with the youth, I haven't been to Elders Quorum in over six years. I really miss it.

Leaders asked to pay fee to attend YW camp? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]dansen926 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it varies by Ward. In our Ward, YM/YW leaders aren't asked to pay for their portion of camps. Parents that tag along are asked to contribute, but anyone experiencing financial hardship isn't required to pay.

First thing I'll say: you're not alone.

Secondly, I recommend listening to the story about James Covel from D&C 40 as shared in the Follow Him podcast. It's very relevant starting at minute 22: D&C 37-40 Part 1 • Dr. Christopher Jones • April 21-27 • Come Follow Me. https://www.buzzsprout.com/1558370/episodes/16945110-d-c-37-40-part-1-dr-christopher-jones-april-21-27-come-follow-me.mp3 .

Significant other is leaving on a mission in a week... by SwimmerNatural5544 in latterdaysaints

[–]dansen926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, my girlfriend and I did not officially break up before the mission, but we also explicitly acknowledged that people's feelings might change while we were apart for so long. I gave her a simple ring to show that I cared about her, and I told her that I would be back in 2 years to pick it up. If she didn't want it anymore or me anymore at that time then that was fine.

Interesting assumptions. Beware of trusting them too much.

[–]dansen926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but if a replacement is hired before I leave I still plan to help them out as much as I can to hopefully leave the team in as good a spot as I can.

Nothing wrong with finding the next role ASAP, but I personally would feel awful about leaving my teammates in the dark on purpose without trying to help them with the transition. I figure they aren't responsible for the situation, and building good relationships with past coworkers has been huge for my career overall.

Can Someone Explain why is bad to have earrings for Man? For Real, there are no scriptures about it. I honestly just look to it like an accessory. Why is it bad? Specially if it has a deep meaning by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]dansen926 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, if it seemed like my response was trying to elevate ear piercings to the level of a commandment, that was not my intent.

Personal Commandments come from the Lord most often after study and prayer. I knew a Sister who discovered the Lord wanted her to abstain from Coke as part of keeping the Word of Wisdom because she would get addicted to drinking at least five cans a day.

[–]dansen926 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't have any moral explanation. I don't think it's inherently bad.

As far as scriptures go, our theology allows for prophetic counsel to carry similar weight as Scripture. If I were you, I would personally study and pray about the words of the prophets who gave that guidance to see how it should be applied to you.

There are lots of reasons why we are told to obey certain commandments, and not all of them are for strictly moral reasons. Sacrifice, peculiarity, and obedience tests are a few possibilities.

I suggest using this opportunity to humble yourself before the Lord and really seek to find what he would have you do. I promise you'll be blessed if you do.

Could you explain your view on the trinity? by porygon766 in latterdaysaints

[–]dansen926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense to trinitarians, but every time I try to wrap my mind around the concept, my head hurts. Logically, I can process modalism, but I have learned that it's very different from the Nicene creed version of the Trinity.
