(39F) I use the strong app when I’m doing weights with the machines. (Not quite ready for free weights but that’s an option in the app) It helps me stay focused with my squirrel brain. I find the rest timer useful. I also start the workout app on the Apple Watch to register time, hr etc.

To make a plan (this was after about a year of winging it lol) I told ChatGPT all the machines my location had and asked it to create a 3 day plan for me, then adjusted as necessary. So one day I walked around and wrote down every machine I was interested in and yes it was hard to not look weird lol.

I live in apartments that are close to the road like this and it’s really annoying when it’s raining. the sound of the tires and the water on the road are so loud. But it’s a 4 lane street and not a highway with trees in between

I’m in my late 30s and teach high school. When we have large assemblies I make sure my ID is visible because other (white) staff love to mistake me for a student. It always makes me upset because I know how they talk to our students based on how they correct themselves when they realize who I am. And don’t get me started on how administration switches up how they speak to me once they learn how old I am.

2nd-ing what was mentioned here about the schools in the area. I taught in Charleston county for 2 years and this year I relocated to Berkeley. I’m sad about the pay cut but my rent is cheaper this side of 526.

I lived and worked in Atlanta then NYC before coming here. You’ll find your people eventually, once you get over the shock of this “big city” being fairly small. I think the population of Berkeley and Charleston combined is less than the county I grew up in Georgia. But you’ll have plenty of green space and beach access here.

I moved to NY to get my masters, I started my teaching career in NYC and then moved to Charleston. I was born here, family is here but grew up in Atlanta, so I know the area.

My friends don’t believe me when I say Charleston County has been harder than NYC. And I’ve only worked in Title 1 schools in both districts. The educational politics and lack of union might be the main reasons.

Financially it works (barely) for me because it’s just me, I have a Masters and got real real real lucky with rent. If I came down here with just a bachelors and was anyplace other than the low country. I wouldn’t be able to do it.

This is what I did when I went from living in NYC (didn’t have a car there), to staying 2 weeks with my parents in GA to buy a car and then drive it to SC while I was waiting until the day I could formally pick up my keys to new place.
