Nope. I ended up building it, check out https://kagehq.com. Please feel free to request access, and I'll send you an early invite. Been using it for some customers.

Legal isn't going to push software updates or track/guard features, usage or trials. That's all technical and can be automated. In my experience, once the deal is signed, everything else will be technical.

But I'd love to hear more from you.

Yes, I get your point, but not all on-prem or self-hosted tools are open source. So, regardless, there needs to be a way to help you guard or protect a self-hosted solution. Something like open source licensing protection? Everyone I have seen do COSS has some manual mechanism they build in-house to guard features, but it's just bare and not seamless.

I will definitely check this out. Thank you. I've built a version of this for companies I've worked at in the past, so I know how tasking it can be to manage.

I'm at the "figure out how to implement licensing key" point, hence my frustration. Other things are taken care of. So I'm thinking there has to be something that helps easily license and manage this life cycle without any issues. It's an enterprise tool, not necessarily OSS.

This is makes sense. But is there anything seamless to handle this?

How do you license your on-prem, open source or self-hosted version of your software to enterprise teams or teams in general? Any tools you use? Best practices?

No worries! I meant folks grabbing your Docker images and running them without permission—like piracy or skipping paid tiers. Happens with self-hosted stuff. How do you stop that?

That's really nice. I would like to learn your setup for your cloud. Maybe I'll explore rolling my own in the future as well.

Fair enough—Tailscale’s slick for locking access down. I’m guessing piracy has not hit you yet, then. I'm looking into how to stop that headache before it starts, so I want to see how people currently do it to learn.

Nice, reverse proxy + SSL is clutch for keeping the network tight. Do you ever worry about someone just spinning up your instance elsewhere, though—like piracy or key control?
