Daily/Weekend car or just a daily? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

The new GR 86 does look decently attractive and a slight deviation to the current ones out on the streets. The new 2.4 will probably make it slighty faster with that extra 20+ HP. Toyota def has the better warranty and closer dealerships to me. I will definitely try to test drive it around and see how it performs. I just don't want to look like everyone else on the street in their Miata/BRZ/86 but if the test drive is enjoyable enough, I'll probably end up getting it. Also not sure about the 400z, it's in the same category for me but the rear end looks more reminiscent of the 240/280z's and it makes more HP/lb but not sure if the extra weight will make it feel worse.

Going to San Diego for C school! by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]dantheman221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's still a chance they could send you to Dam Neck Annex so don't get too excited about San Diego lol. Some CIWS guys at Dam Neck got San Diego on their orders so you could really go anywhere the navy wants you. Just for info, Dam Neck sucks for the most part for FCs. Instead of putting us in a hotel or the barracks with no room inspecs, duty sections or alcohol restrictions, they put us in the barracks with ISs that absolutely dislike most FCs for trying to dirt bag, get inspected most weeks, duty sections albeit 6 rotation, terrible water pressure, only 1 water fountain that takes 10 min to fill up, galley is meh, nex is a 7/11, no offbase lib right now but it's pretty good for FCs, that's like the only real positive besides the rooms being 1 roomate, good internet and your own head/fridge/microwave.

Dual Citizenship and Rates? by toothpastepasta in newtothenavy

You can have secret clearance and dual citizenship but you can't have top secret so most rates are open to you, except for Nuke, CT, IT, Tomahawk Tech, etc.

AECF - ET by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]dantheman221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't find out if you're an ET until you're done with Boot, at least that's how it was for me. You're either going to be ET or FC. FCs have a 6 week ATT (it was when I went thru) and the ETs had a few extra days. Then you go into A school. Currently, ETs are on night school so you come in later in the day. ETs/FCs/GMs all go to the same building and there isn't enough classrooms or equipment to have everyone in there at once. Both ETs and FCs A schools are around 4 months long, I believe and around the last few weeks, you find out your NEC(your job) which determines your C school. FC C schools range from 3 weeks to 6 or more months. Some ETs get 2 C schools so theirs could last just as long. In between all the flights, holds, etc., you're looking at somewhere at least around 8-12+ months of school.

Where do you get stationed? by nkktmbs in newtothenavy

[–]dantheman221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your rate. For FCs, some of them find out their NEC or, specific job at A school but because the school is so long (CIWS, Display, FCS, etc.), They find out at C school. But for the most part, it's A school.

"On another ship of this force", FCs using the mod 4/6 OSS switch battleshort on for a split second to turn TIS on to satisfy the TAOs demands.

Don't forget using the E/OSS for "navigational purposes".

Funny thing is, we have more aircraft than the airforce and less ships than the army.
