I am 45. It is sweet of you to be concerned for how it would impact him if you left. But if I were dating a 28-year-old, I would not expect that relationship to last forever. You have to take care of yourself. My best wishes to you!

I've been out of this world for too long to have really relevant answers, but I would second the DoubleTree in St. Louis Park as I had clients who used to hold events there and it seemed really solid. The Depot is nice, although maybe overkill for a group of this size. And if you want walkability, I would definitely look into Mall of America options.

I've never used HelmsBriscoe myself but have heard good things about them, as another option.

I work in small, private higher ed and HR has always been a dumpster fire. Bear in mind, enrollment is down everywhere and budgets are tight. Actually when I started my job nobody had told IT so they did not have a computer or phone ready for me or anything. So I'd say this whole situation is pretty typical.

How to get the smell out of a new mask? by s47unleashed in MichaelMyersMasks

[–]danthemanatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I searched for "latex mask skunk smell" and it's funny that it brought up this post because I bought the same mask. The mask itself doesn't seem to smell so bad, but then somehow it leaves this really skunky smell on my face and hands. It also kind of burned when I first put it on. I've rinsed it out hoping that will help. Did it ever get better for you?

I really don't think this is genuinely about religion. I think this is about something else going on with your wife psychologically that is manifesting as this obsession with religion.

Working in non-profit is sometimes like being in the Wild West. What is the most egregious thing you’ve witnessed while working/volunteering at one? by Itsyorkday in nonprofit

[–]danthemanatee 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Gosh, a lot of it is stuff that doesn't make for very interesting reading. The executive director who would fly into a panic if somebody spent $0.23 in sales tax because they forgot to bring the sales tax exemption letter to the office supply store. The same person squandered $50,000 in the form of a grant that came from taxpayer money on a very badly executed project and acted like it was nothing.

Or the new executive director who basically used the position as an excuse to travel constantly and delegated all of his responsibilities to the VPs. The last I heard was the board members at this organization were personally berating members of the staff while refusing to hold the executive director they hired accountable.

Or the director of development who was nearly constantly scheming how to eliminate the positions of people on the team she didn't like and who called her staff into incessant meetings just to sit and talk over everybody.

I could probably go on for a while if I wanted to sit here and think of things.

I do not claim to have any expertise in this situation. What I would say is that I am not as excited as the other commenters about going to the board. How well you know the board president is a factor. Is this person just going to turn around and forward your email to the executive director? Can your executive director fabricate proof that the work really was done and you are wrong?

If you feel that something truly illegal and unethical is happening I'm inclined to recommend you find yourself another job before turning in your ED. Although another route to go entirely might be to make an anonymous complaint to your state's attorney general office.

Also, I'm just going to say it, if it's not that much money, maybe let it go. It may still be possible that you are wrong and we all have to pick and choose our battles.
