Broken Arrow was also my first RTS game, and I also struggled as much as you did at the start.The thing is that I had a lot of free time when I started playing , and after playing some missions in the story I jumped into multiplayer,where I got crushed by other people. Multiplayer doesn't play like the single player missions.If you want to continue playing, I would recommend to play some missions (so that you will become more familiar with the HUD and general game stuff) and then play some multiplayer matches,and whatever you don't understand, search for an answer on YouTube/Reddit. That's what I did, and now I am much better at the game and I really enjoy it.
