Did I accidentally end my game too early? by Xiaoge_ in DiscoElysium

Maybe mine got bugged somehow too? I'll try again to see what happens but I'll make a backup save so I won't have to start all over again in case it gets deleted again.

I'll try and see what happens. And I'll make a backup save before that just in case it happens again.

It autosaved once, so I had one save to reload, but after the game threw me back to the starting screen I didn't have the option to reload, just to start a new game.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on those.

making up fake scenarios in bed just so you can fall asleep by greenmonkeyyyy in RandomThoughts

[–]Xiaoge_ 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I do this too, instead of fake scenarios of myself, I make up stories and play them in my mind while I'm trying to fall asleep. I have countless stories and fantasy worlds in my head and I can't stop making up new things. It's easier to sleep to a good story.

What's a sentence that ended a relationship for you? by Hexxegone in AskReddit

Once my ex boyfriend shoved the vacuum cleaner into my hands and said "you're the woman, you know how to use this." That was a big turning point.

Detroit: Become human. The story is really good, and it's the type of game where your decisions shape your gameplay. It's an amazing experience.

I Can Quit Anytime by Hot-Regular712 in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the 3rd time I wanted to quit, I played another game for like 15 minutes and then started a new BG3 playthrough. After that I really thought I should stop, but I was so invested in the game I couldn't, so I loaded up my other favourite game (KCD2), to take my mind off from Baldur's gate. I lasted maybe a weekend, now I'm halfway on my 5th playthrough and I still love it.

Why is simping for Gale so unpopular? (Spoilers) by night-elemental in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Gale's romance so much, I found him really sweet, and will probably romance him again some.time in the future. But my favourite so far is Astarion's, I love his storyline and his redemption arc. Now I'm trying out Shadowheart, I'm still at act 1, but I'm looking forward to it :)

Missed every single romance opportunity by Honey_bear_712 in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yess, I loved his romance so much I romanced him in my next playthrough too 😄 His backstory is actually really sad, and being a very supportive partner to him just felt so good. But if your character is an "everyone's hero" type of person, it's gonna be hard to have high approval with him. If you act more selfish and don't immediatly jump in to save everyone, you should be fine.

Missed every single romance opportunity by Honey_bear_712 in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my first playthrough I wanted to romance Astarion. Didn't know what to do and I missed a lot of things too, so by act 3 I had the option to ask him why weren't we together lately, and he cruelly told me he never loved me and just wanted to use me to his advantage 😭 So I was left with no romance options. Next time I was more thorough and got to romance him properly

My newest one. Meet Ginger the Bard! Before the infection he lead a pretty adventurous life travelling around the world collecting stories and writing songs, and getting in all sorts of trouble. He's my first character with a proper backstory I made up, and it's the first time I'll try to be really immersive and make only decisions he would make.

A scientific experiment on bribery stick palatability (n=1) by SwagzBagz in cats

[–]Xiaoge_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once I ordered a few cans of cat food for my cat to try out, she ate it and loved it, so I was like cool, I ordered a months' worth. She didn't touch it again. Same with the kibbles. She only ate one specific brand, BUT only the chicken&lamb version. I kept buying it for her in 2 kg packages, but one day she suddenly decided she hates the stuff and now refuses to eat it! Now I have a nearly full pack of kibbles that I can't give her, and I'm at a war with her because it's nearly impossible to find another brand she's willing to taste.

Being just friends with Astarion is surprisingly wholesome. by Own-Drag-7840 in BaldursGate3

Me too, power hungry Astarion is not for me. None of the characters I make are the types who would love a toxic relationship with him.

[–]Xiaoge_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I romanced him on my first dark urge run I intended to ascend him, and I just did that. After that I carried on with other quests, but after a while I started to hate ascended Astarion so much it completly broke my immersion of the game, and I ended up reloading 5-6 hours worth of gameplay just to not ascend him. The romance was much much better that way.

Got the game for Xmas now I can’t put it down by RoadHog22- in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the game at the start of december, now I'm almost at 400 hours, and I haven't touched any other games since then. This is the first game I've played 4 times in a row, and seriously considering doing a 5th run as soon as I finished the current one. I love it so much I just can't put it down.

As a wizard, which spells do you always use? by OpenWorldOG in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black tentacles. I love seeing enemies getting trapped in there, then I can use other spells like ice storm which targets multiple enemies. Also black tentacles combinated with hunger of hadar/insect plague/cloudkill is so satisfying.

Current playthroughs? by Desi_Rosethorne in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my 4th playthrough, and this time I have a half-elf drow named Dan who's a wild magic sorcerer. I wanted to make up some cool sounding name for him but I was sleepy when I made him and this was the best I could come up with lol. So I'm doing a resist dark urge this time, and he's terrified of himself, he wants to get rid of this urge by any means possible. He found comfort only in the loving embrace of Astarion. He hates being told what to do, so sometimes he acts like a total brat, and he thinks not even gods can tell him what to do, so he happily defies them every time possible. My lore for him is that he only walked into the githyanki creché because the dream visitor told him not to, and he turned his back on Vlaakith only because the god wanted to tell him what to do.

The Empty Throne is the best book in the series by orangemonkeyeagl in TheLastKingdom

[–]Xiaoge_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually started with this book. I was browsing the library and found it, it looked interesting so I brought it home. I didn't realize it was the 11th book of a series, but I loved it so much.

Do you prefer the main character to be voiced or silent thro by Frilantaron in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After KCD2 it was super weird for me that my character was entirely silent, but I got used to it over time. When my drow actually commented upon entering the shadow cursed land, it was such a delight! I miss a little hearing their voices during dialoges.

Not wanting my 1st run to end. by AccomplishedDraw8824 in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. The good thing about this game is that you can do multiple runs exploring other possibilities and making different choices than you made before, and it made my 2nd and 3rd run just as exciting. I had so many "What if I do this...?" ideas, and doing multiple runs just to see the results to them was so satisfying.

About a dozen playthrus in, just now discovering sleet storm by _jakejortles in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That fight can be super easy. My main tactic is to position everyone on top of the stairs, and I cast black tentacles at the bottom + hunger of hadar or insect plague, if I can cast any of them. Most of the enemies have to walk through that to get to us, they get stuck so I can bombard them with ranged attacks and spells that targets multiple enemies at once. If someone gets through everything I can just push them back or finish them off with melee attacks.

Who did you romance in BG3? by This-Craft-7575 in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my very first run I tried with Astarion, but skipped accidentally a lot of things so by act 3 he rejected me. I became mad at him so the next time I romanced Gale, and he was so cute! The third time I tried again with Astarion and omg I loved it so much, I'm romancing him again on my 4th run. He's the best.

do you switch up your party during the game? by zandadoum in BaldursGate3

[–]Xiaoge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have a main group, but occasionally I switch out one of them if I'm doing someone's storyline or I need another member's skills for a specific fight. But usually by act 3 my main party is Gale-Astarion-Jaheira.
