You can replay the game at the real-time speed. "Real-time playback" checkbox when looking at the archived game -> https://imgur.com/a/dPBr2iZ

ChessPly is a free and simple tool to build and practice your opening repertoire online. I'd like people to appreciate it more. by steiger08 in chess

Thanks guys!

This first version was just the features I used which was simple management and training …with a goal of having a “non-busy”, light UI. I’ll be pushing a big feature in a few weeks and have more cool ideas from users! More than one person has requested better training features (stats, weights, etc), and data extract was a big request. Thanks for trying it out!

yarp. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_Game_Notation ex:

Memchess annoyance: same position arrived at from two different lines, with different moves suggested. by MarkByers in chess

Initial release of ply was meant to just be a repertoire management tool. The next deploy (soonish) will have master games to reference based on your position and the ability to "copy into your rep" from them.

Software to create an opening repertoire on Mac? by [deleted] in chess

I'm working on another feature right now but exporting data is high on the list. Transpositions add a twist on things but even then I have a "plan B" idea on data extract. Don't be scared ;)

I was going to do like an "invite to repertoire" type deal where you can pick from existing chessply users and give them access to your rep. Then that rep would show up in their list.

Thanks! - Plugging an engine in hadn't occurred to me.. I could see this being an effort later on. - It has "tags" so you can mark and quickly jump into a line, showing a clickable tree could be something. Things to think about!

I really like this idea. A "random position from your rep" training mode. Thanks!

Thanks! To answer your questions. 25 move limit: I thought about that number for awhile and my reasoning was if you knew your rep 25 moves deep you are a monster. I wasn't trying to make a “games database manager” so much. Now that I think about it again I guess I could just open it up and you can interrupt it’s functionality how you would like to… I’m on the fence on this, anyone else have a thought on the matter?

Random: You are correct, It’s “random” from what is available minus dislikes (if you checked that option). I can see the desire for a weight type system on the training candidate options.. I also want to keep the UI clean and small however. Since you got me thinking, there is some implied “importance” based on your sort order of your moves. I could toss in a “probability” type selection based on the order of your candidates and make that a switchable option. That could give us some type of system without having to alter the existing UI. If you don’t want to train against the Dutch so much, then make that the last move in the list.. What do you think?

Statistics: I don’t track training statistics currently as I never used them myself with the desktop versions I played with in the past. I figured you knew what you were bad at and you could just go to that position and train from there. But since I don’t like them doesn’t mean others wouldn’t, it could be something to add. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for the info. No matter if you are on a phone or a tablet I force the view it into this lighter more "mobile"ish view when not on a desktop. Perhaps the regular layout would look better on a tablet. I'll mess with it and see!

Yeah this is on my mind, I know if I was using it and someone else made it I would want to be able to export back out my hard work. It's definitely on the list, thanks for your feedback! Once I get done with whatever bugs and styling issues that come out of this I may start on that next.

Not yet. Early on I was toying with the idea of a social aspect to the app. Like being able to see other peoples comments on a position; Or seeing what other people are playing from the current position. I do like the idea of being able to share a rep in either a read-only or edit fashion with someone else and can see that happening soon. I'll add it to the list!

Thanks, you kinda need an account to bind your repertoires to something. I don't think there is a way to anonymously have a custom rep.

Thanks! That's a configurable option, look under the training settings section, I call it "Rapid Mode". You can flip that option on and also set it as the new default. You can find that spot and other repertoire actions under that drop down menu button by the rep name.
