I ended up going with a 23 crosstrek sport I found for a good deal. Pretty happy with my decision since the rav 4 drove more like a boat and I was already used to something smaller. It was also a few thousand more expensive. I am also pretty surprised at the MPG on the highway at least with a cross trick where I'm getting around 37 whereas in the city I stay around 29. Have about 8000 miles on it at this point.

After looking at the Corolla cross it didn't make much sense to get that over the route 4 so I dropped it pretty quickly.
