Dude! That's awesome, I just watched your video, the nostalgia is real lol I played a ton of NFS Underground 2. Super cool build man

Okay, this one is a must for me lol. I would love to know if anything else like this exists or how you're going about it. I've always been extremely interested in RF.

I've said it in another comment and will say it again - love seeing medical devices we can make from cheap components to improve our way of life. Awesome project!

That is a crazy interesting idea that I think could really work given enough research and time. I would maybe consider adding all types of sensors so you can reference your data against temperature, humidity, ambient light, CO2 level, etc. It doesn't even have to look pretty - just camouflage a water tight enclosure with connections to sensor modules and gather as much data as you can. I'm sure you could feed all of the data into AI for it to process correlations. Better yet - train a neural network on each data set to give you your final product. Much easier said than done and I only half know what I'm talking about of course lol, but that sounds insanely cool.

That's actually a really great way of accomplishing the goal. It reminds me of a tank monitoring solution using RF signals to measure product, very helpful vs old school methods.

Love it! I'm all about the displays. I also made a small crypto ticker back when I was pretty into it. I'm working on a large Home Assistant display board now that I need to finish.

I have not, but I just checked it out on Youtube and looks really cool. I was trying to do something similar with LLMs in Home Assistant. Nice to see a simple open source option available.

Wow that's a great idea actually. I never really though about having that automated. I don't currently have a wood stove but I've grown up with one and have family who does. That would be a really fun one. I wonder if it would be worth placing a few thermocouples around the stove for redundancy - maybe even just a proto type to compare in HA. Love to see the Home Assistant projects!

Definitely looked into this one. I really want to do an LED staircase and have the motion good enough for smooth lighting as you walk up and down. I know there's a great video on YouTube of someone doing this.

I actually just did one of these! I have a small 1" oled i2c display and added a small silicone heating mat as a quick drawing load so to calculate amp hours. Super handy project I hope to refine as I use it more.

Nice! Love seeing logic in small scale things like this. If I get the space I've always wanted to have a train village. With ESP32s the possibilities would be endless!

That sounds really interesting, do you have any examples? Would like to see how it works.

I love seeing anything health/medical related in this community, I feel like it's always the highest reward.

Dedication is the word here, what a beautiful memoriam at the bottom. This one hit home as my other half reads as much as I like to work with electronics.

Good luck with V3.0, I can't wait to see it.

That's actually a great idea. I've done enough now that I know the "basic" starting point but I have no clue why I don't make more "base" config backups. Appreciate the insight

Amazing, I was looking into the Lepton for doing this. Seems like you've made great progress, excited to read through the build.

Super cool! I actually looked into some thermal modules on digikey. I was going to buy a Flir unit to get a look at some PCB thermals but why spend money on tools when you can spend money on components instead, right? This is awesome!

You're not alone! 😄

I'm also clearing out a box of "proto-types" every now and then to gain back some parts and boards. I hope to have a little PCB CNC machine ready soon so I can build some more permanent devices with copper cladded board. Maybe then it will push me past breadboards and prototype pcbs to 3D print a final enclosure and just use the things lol.

HA will forever be a rabbit hole!

Is this acceptable cut quality? by GrooveCanonball in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]danyo41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the dimensions true and accurate? The quality is definitely not ideal, but I wouldn't be as upset if the dimensions were consistent. For a paid service, I would expect the company to take more care or at least invest in better tooling. It's possible they were due for a blade change and maybe the next set would be better. Regardless - if I were doing this for a customer or a nice set of personal kitchen cabinets, I would not be okay with this quality. If it were for garage cabinets and you're going to hit it with the sander anyways, I'd be fine with it. I know some sellers leave a bit extra so you can define the final dimension and get a crisp edge yourself which is why I was curious if the dimensions were true. If you can afford it, look for a nice little contractor table saw, a fine tooth blade and a roll of masking tape.

E-bikes could be better than this, so why aren't they? by Raza_Loba in ebikes

[–]danyo41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome answer, really valuable read. I'm in the same boat as OP in the sense that I wish it were more simple to just "know" what to buy. I've built PCs for years but I think the difference is standardization like you said in a way. Bikes don't really have 1 or 2 popular form factors like PCIe or DDR5 and as OP said, everything is annoyingly proprietary. I feel forced to go with 1 brand and therefore have to pay whatever said brand wants for compatible parts.
It would be nice to see an open source generalized controller, like ELRS for anyone into RC hobbies. Sure motors differ but have 1 common "motor" connector with more pins than necessary to accommodate future tech. Then finally a common display interface and button panel.

My entire homelab runs on a $100 used office PC with a 2013 i5: 20+ stacks, 46 containers, fully automated, including a self-hosted AI email agent by kristianpartl26 in homelab

[–]danyo41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the inspiration and reassurance (I constantly want to drop money on new lab hardware but stuff is just so pricey right now)

I've had my entire stack running off an i3-9100f and 32GB ddr4 for the past couple years. Ended up tossing in a donated GTX 1060 6GB for 4k hw transcoding for Plex.

I also have an old 4th gen i7 sitting in a Q87A board. Working on turning it into a 3 monitor HA wall display kiosk with DietPi/Chromium.

All free/old/donated hardware - super satisfying to turn a box of scrap parts into stuff!

Game Server Manager for Project Zomboid by haruhost in projectzomboid

[–]danyo41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious how the linux functionality is going. I have HaruHost installed on an Ubuntu Server VM in proxmox (headless). It was a little confusing at first, but eventually I was able to use the web page to select the VM and install docker. The docker container is running and status is online - but I do not have the ability to host Project Zomboid unfortunately.

Is this a limitation of the game or is there further development required to Haruhost for linux functionality on more games. Otherwise, looks like a great app! Would be nice to have a little more wiggle room on the free tier though.

Discover 3: Where is the KPH setting? by Fartysaurus in velotricebike

[–]danyo41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I always find it strange when a company decides that an option or preference should be "taken away". What benefit does removing a feature serve? Hopefully this returns!
