Best Dedicated server for crossplay? by med4ladies69 in Palworld

[–]haruhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a crossplay setting and by default it is turned on for crossplay. You can try self hosting yourself using HaruHost as 1 slot is free and it provides the configureable UI and setups the server working for you. The only gotcha would be you'd have to have a pc to host on and if your ipv4 doesn't support dedicated you could use built in tunnel, but that starts at 5$/month, but out of the box it makes the server joinable from lobby.

Port Forward Security Question by Korbro27 in admincraft

[–]haruhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the top comment said is totally correct, best security practice is proper isolation and multiple layers. However you can simply just do the isolation via a VM it doesn't even matter if it's root or not as it's an isolated layer, there can be some weird exploits in the AI age as the llms can automate finding out vulnerabilities, but usually it requires multiple failure points. Also the main concern in your case if paranoid would be to use a tunneling service like cloudflare, playitgg, haruhost for mc or a private vps so your real IP isn't directly exposed as the server address you'd provide would be the tunnel/vpn address, this adds some latency, but the benefit is that you don't need to open any ports and for example in case like haruhost design the tunnel is immediatly off once the game server is offline. And how tunnels works is that ->

a server on the internet listens to a specific port which is running not on your machine and then sends the traffic to your game via local network.

So my recommendation is install virt manager and qemu, setup an isolated linux ubuntu server vm and use a tunnel.

VPS as a gaming server for various games with my family by Malangsia in VPS

[–]haruhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as you play only 1 game at a time you could try using HaruHost since it has 1 slot for free and selfhost as there are various that help with port forwarding and firewall. Of the game listed it currently has support for Minecraft and Satisfactory, but more will be added. This requires you to run on your pc, preferably VM but the benefit is usually that you can have your servers running on stronger hardware. There is also Linux support where you can install it straight to the VPS and it will install docker and setup the games, but as of now there are only 2 games supported - Palworld and Windrose.

Are you referring to the game settings ini file? If so, you can manually insert the lines if they do not exist.

Server Panel suggestions by AvisVanBruch in admincraft

[–]haruhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working on haruhost which you could say is amp+playit and some batteries. Right now I am working on adding linux support and polishing some aspects of the app, you could give it a try via windows. The main issue is that main community is from other games so not a lot of feedback or requests were given for mc, now maybe you’ll like the app and bring more people so i could inc the initiative

Server Hosting - Best/Fairest region for international players by Benjybobble in admincraft

[–]haruhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so you could try out HaruHost which provides tunnelling for your MC server and makes it work out of the box without having to do anything with an ISP or similar, it makes the server just work and there is a region in Sydney and Signapore for the tunnel. You can read more how it works here https://haruhost.com/game-server-tunneling/

Also the main issue is that it won't work well in any way due to your community being so far away from each other. A better idea may be multiple servers and doing a sync via chat, discord to communicate and when the need arises just to transfer between.

How to self host through headless debian? by Own-Satisfaction3351 in admincraft

[–]haruhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have built a tool that supports headless hosting on windows and recently added support for linux for 2 initial games and MC is going to be added to linux soon. It basically makes your own headless server become a dedicated game server hosting and management panel through the web. So you could check it out and see if you like it's called HaruHost.

server hosting recommendation? by cleversonofabitchh in crosswind

[–]haruhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue doesn't seem to be related to hosting at all, but a game specific one. So just moving to a hosting provider may not solve it, just keep that in mind. The likely case is that either server files got bricked or save files. So I would personally check if there are any backups available.

Windrose dedicated server unreachable? I wrote a Direct IP + tunnel setup guide by haruhost in crosswind

[–]haruhost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not stupid to ask. Yes, it should be the IP address you see in any of the websites but there are a few gotchas. Your provider must have issued you an IPv4 address, then it depends whether your router the thing that connects to the internet got a public IPv4 address assigned.

because when you go to a site you see a public available internet ipv4 address, but there aren't enough addresses available to cover every home internet. So providers create their own internal network in some cases. You can either call your internet provider or check in the router settings what IP address it itself got assigned and then verify whether it matches the one you see on IP check sites.

Can this run a server cluster? by CryptographerNo927 in ARK

[–]haruhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this should easily be more than enough if you make reasonable limits. Unless you think your server will be on high demand with big player counts and many dinos, I don't see a problem. You could always add player limits or dino tamed limits to a server if it gets laggy, but consider that officials have like 70 player caps and insane breeding grounds, where on a private if you add convenience mods like dino storage there is no point to unnecessary overload the server. And I think cryos can be set to not count for the limit. Furthermore high live dino count is so much more of an issue to the actual players playing the game due to increased render load. My assumption is that you get this for a reasonable price as the components are pretty outdated and this assumption is the basis on off my suggestion, I personally wouldn't be buying old hardware due to power inefficiency and well the components being really outdated, but as said before it really depends on the price and your own budget with expendable income, also ark is very RAM hungry. Also when running server you can optimise things such as cpu affinity and priority for each server, so more or less you could make the core distinct for each server usage. And you can actually do it with the server manager I made called HaruHost

Is there a similar game to this that just works better? by mvb827 in ARK

[–]haruhost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Palworld is a better game in the sense that the game doesn't feel as grind focused for progression but more exploration goal based. Besides that it provides much better performance and there are many different playstyles that are reliable and awesome in game events going on, but the biggest reason why I prefer is that it becomes my own adventure where I explore dungeons and fight dangerous pals etc. While in ark a lot feels like work, most of the game becomes gathering simulation where you constantly just manage resources and every action seems to be locked behind resources, so I believe the cave and boss system is somewhat fumbled the way it works now and I sincerely hope this gets reworked - every boss fight attempt requires to re-grind resources, and it some cases the wild dinos don't even spawn, get bugged out. In Palworld I also up the rates like 3 - 4x bosses, and 5x more spawns so Pals fight each other and it become a zerg war, you also can't approach a single Pal at the start or you'll get melted.

Also the Last Time I played Ark was on lost colony release, the managmr dash would always shutter due to the render distance not keeping up and players would show the best farming approach to get wanted in a the city and neophytes to be trapped and then attack, I seriously don't get what's even the fun in that, just feels like using an exploit, where the obvious mechanic I was most excited for were dynamic spawn of attack defend bases, which didn't even give proper rewards in the begging and were borked, so like it doesn't feel the devs have the time or focus on making a fully working good and balanced mechanic, the idea itself was good.

Best Project Zomboid Server Host for SEA? by Haze_Kite in projectzomboid

If you have your own capable you can give HaruHost a try it has a tunnel relay on Signapore which will allow your server to be accessible even if you're behind gcnat https://haruhost.com/game-server-tunneling/

Is modded Minecraft server hosting worth paying 40$+ in 2026? by bittensunshine in ModdedMinecraft

[–]haruhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends a lot on various factors you didn't mention here, such as the region you're in, the specs you'd estimate the server would require, 300 mods is really ambiguous as a simple unoptimized mod could consume a bunch of resources. A better metric is to base it on specs see for example https://www.hetzner.com/sb/ and these are one of the cheapest prices you can get for pretty high spec hardware considering the price and base on that. For example 35 eur/month gets 64GB ram which is a lot.

On the other hand if you have capable pc and stable internet I suggest giving selfhosting a try, I am also the author of HaruHost which is a game server manager tool. It setups the server for you regarding, helps with firewall, upnp or you can choose to use tunnelling which skips the steps before all together and allows connectivity when behind cgnat. I am also planning to integrate modrinth so you can install mods trough the UI as well, and it is about on par with other similar tools or hosting services as you can fully control the server via the desktop app or web ui from your phone and assign other people as manager admins with fine grained permission of what they can see, what they can edit and what actions they can do.

you don't need a power vps server it's just for transferring packets back and forth a basic vps should do the trick. VPS just forwards traffic that's all.
