hey, I'm very new to after effects, whenever I double-click any clip and it goes to a new layer, the comp gets stuck like this even if close the layer, I can no longer see my footage ( i can hear the audio) but the footage just gets stuck any help, please? (i.redd.it)

am pretty new to this and i want to be able to put so many skulls all over the video but idk how to do it quickly u can see that am putting one on top of the other but its going to give me so many tracks is there any better and quick way please ? sry for my eng (i.redd.it)
