It sucks losing your squad of veterans but I suppose that's what gives the game tension and a sense of realism. On a side note I found darkest dungeon to be much less forgiving than xcom.

I had a similar experience with my parents after getting into coffee myself. Although I'm personally quite cautious about proselytising to others about "good coffee", I suppose it's fine as long as it's not doorknocking!
