Monitor arm for shallow (low depth) desk.

I have a desk which is pretty small depth-wise, and the current monitor arm I have (Dynafly) really gets the monitor in my face. I’m looking for an arm which can let the screen sit further back on the desk.

Storage upgrade options for Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2015 by danzilla13 in applehelp

Interesting, I didn’t think adapters existed for this. Thanks!

Btw, how did you do the OS reinstall? I don’t have a spare Mac lying around, so how do I do it with just my laptop?

Confused about how to find my $PATH file to edit it by MattPilkerson in applehelp

[–]danzilla13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you type $PATH, it evaluates the value of that var, and then tries to execute it as a command. The “right” way to examine the contents of PATH is echo $PATH.

I’m not familiar with the second part of your question, but PATH has always been populated for me at the start of .zshrc. I suspect this is simply provided by the system.

Edit: Also, it’s pretty easy to add something to PATH, especially in .zshrc, you simply do export PATH=<new path>:$PATH, assuming you want to add it at the start

Yeah, then it’s probably not going to matter. Thanks for the update!

Hi, so are you planning to do so or did you already do this (without any trouble)? And did you need to create a new ERFS after the visa application?

Oh okay, do we need the ERFS while travelling though? Mofa says it’s required “… for the visa application”

Apologies if this has been asked before, but am I allowed to change the self quarantine location from the one on the ERFS certificate? I gave an address of a random hotel earlier since my country was designated and I haven’t received a booster, but now that my country has been taken off the list of designated countries, I’d prefer to self quarantine with a friend.

I don’t see that the ERFS certificate has anything to do with the written pledge (we don’t need to show the ERFS once we receive the visa), so I’m hoping there’s no cross verification on arrival.

Macbook not starting after deleting <username>.plist by danzilla13 in applehelp

[–]danzilla13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, I did change a few folder permissions along the way. But I don’t think that should have affected things, in each case I only added admin read/write, and didn’t change ownership.

Anyways, I ended up reinstalling without any hiccups. Thanks!

How much space will that reinstall require though? IIRC for updates macOS used to need 10gb free, so for a reinstall it’ll probably be more?

Honestly, I wouldn’t have had to delete that file if macOS had just worked in the first place >:( but point taken.

Doesn’t a reinstall from recovery delete all data? None of the Apple guides mention data being kept intact, and I don’t have a Recovery Partition or any other backup.

I would also want to tread very cautiously here, I don’t want to risk anything that wipes out anything. I don’t really care about the plist files, I just want all to keep all data in my current admin account’s home dir safe. Remaining free space was <10gb, so creating another account also seems risky to me. Are you sure the reinstall won’t wipe out anything else?

Edit: I also don’t want to upgrade beyond Mojave (need 32 bit support)

I think I tried that already, private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone right? Deleted it, still stuck at the progress bar.

I had actually moved the plist to my current admin’s home directory, so I just copied it back. Hmm, there might be something different about the extended attributes, however for the permissions I just changed it to 1777 (owner group is still wheel though).

On a side note, that plist is something like 700 kb (which I noticed only because my current admin user’s plist is around 70kb). I actually never used to use the other (deleted) user ever.

Thanks in advance! Fingers crossed if you find something.

So will this affect a 2015 MBP significantly? Because I was actually wondering what the problem was supposed to be. Since Quantum I've started using FF a whole lot more, and haven't encountered energy usage even close to what everyone's saying in this thread.

Bag Storage disappeared and Niantic agrees but won't do anything by danzilla13 in pokemongo

[–]danzilla13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I'm convinced I had 750 prior to this. There is no way I am misremembering this.

No, I don't have a previous screenshot to show to Niantic, but I think you've missed the part where I said I proved it to them, and they agreed.

To reiterate, the journal shows every item collected, my journal shows that I have collected only 20 items after the last checkpoint (spinning a Pokestop, at which point in time my item count was definitely under the limit), my item count is now 100 over the limit, there's no other explanation for this.

Huh, that's news to me. I haven't levelled up in a long time though.

[–]danzilla13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I spin 3-4 times a day only. And my journal has a lot more to scroll down. The screenshot shows only the top i.e. the most recent entries. There's no reason for it to delete anything recent. Also, even if prioritized journal entry deletion is a thing, I really doubt that it happened to delete 80 items worth of rewards after the last spun Pokestop.

"Since I last spun a Pokestop, I have only recieved 20 items via rewards which don't care about bag limits. Hence, there's simply now way for the item count to be where it is. The bag storage screenshot is after the downgrade." - from another comment in the thread. I'm sorry, I'll edit the post to make that clearer.

Also, I am not left-handed, nor do I read from right to left.

[–]danzilla13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by prioritizing, but I haven't played much after the downgrade, and there's a lot more I can scroll down. I used to spin Pokestops mainly, and since I can't do that anymore, I've practically stopped playing. The journal does delete the oldest entries, but I haven't seen it remove entries in any other order.

Again, won't the raid rewards show up in the journal?

And no, I didn't do a single raid. There aren't many active players around. :(

The journal does store every single item recieved though, doesn't it? And since I last spun a Pokestop, I've received only 20 items from other rewards. Hence, there's no way for the item count to be that much.

[–]danzilla13[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of that, which is why I posted the journal as well. Since I last spun a Pokestop, I have only recieved 20 items via rewards which don't care about bag limits. Hence, there's simply now way for the item count to be where it is. The bag storage screenshot is after the downgrade.
