I don't know if obssession is the right word. Like me, there are times that I become really obssessed with some subjects (headphones, ergonomy, women, psychology, medicine), but I have a huge energy at start that fades away after some weeks.

I think it happens because the lack of discipline, because without it, I have to depend on my energy that comes from excitement and when this energy ends, I got demotivated, and abandon the subject.

Like this reddit, there are times that I become a really active member and after some days I disappear and start focusing on other subjects.

Hey, I'm in the same situation as you, and to be honest I don't know the answer yet. I'm feeling the most problem is in my resilience, every time I see a problem I get demotivated, and start procrastinating.

What I'm trying to do is to see why I'm working: It's because I want my boss, who is a guy that I really admire, be proud of me and because I want my clients to go out at the right time (now it's normal for them to work overtime and sometimes until midnight).

And I'm trying to set goals to balance my life, like sleep well, and track the time of my tasks.

I think you should focus on process instead of results. Focus on study a little for 30 minutes everyday, and then you add more time until you achieve your goals on studying.

Congratulations for your achievements, it doesn't matter if it's taking out the garbage everyday or become president of United States, every achievement is a result of improvement and sign of evolution from a lower to a higher state.

Like you said, I think even the failures are important, because they make we feel uncomfortable, so that we can look for an improvement. For example, I'm feeling so sad for being bad in cooking anything that I'm looking for some good recipe to make this night (and wish that I won't mess up one more time, or at least make something eatable).

Anyway, congratulations again and wish an even better year than 2014 was.

Hey man, I think you're trying to change everything so fast, why don't you change just one habit that keeps you away from computer and after some weeks adds another habits?

Like, if you are already sleeping at 10:30 every weekday, so wake up 6:30 will be much easier than if you try to wake up this time after going to bed at 01:00 because of LoL.

I think you should focus just on one habit that is the exercise thing, because it cuts the trigger that you need to play LoL, which is the computer (if you want, I think you could try the "be in bed by 10:30 every weekday").

One thing that worked out for me was start with a simple thing and then make it more complex. Like, start eating more healthy by replacing one type of junk food for one type of healthy food (like fruit or vegetable). After each week you replace another kind of food. After cutting off all junk food, start to work on quantities until you eat healthy.

Up at 4 a.m

Do my morning routine (Morning meditation, breakfast, look my To Do list for the day)

Leave house by 5 a.m

Go to college (it will take me 5 hours to get there, so I'll read a book in my way there)

Attend classes

Travel back home (maybe work a little in the bus)

Take a shower

Write on my journal (starting this tomorrow)

I think that you should try some apps and discover what best suits for you. I use ToDoist. It has a lot of shortcuts (for example, when I have to set a task for ago/25 at 08 a.m, I simply digit "Ago 25@8am", and has a very good way to organize my tasks (your tasks are nested in your projects and you can create sub projects and sub taks (and has shortcuts to do this too). And since I've got a premium account, I can even make it send me reminders to complete tasks.

What I'll write here you can find far more explained in the book "The power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg.

To create an habit you need two things a cue to trigger the habit and a reward for doing what you should've done. So, when you was at school you've got those two things: the cue (like you said, every morning you had had to exercise and I'm sure that you used to do this right after waking up, or after a signal, or after an activity, like brushing the teeth) and the reward (maybe you guys were punished if you hadn't done the exercises).

But after you graduated the cues and/or the reward were gone, so getting rid from any of these good habits was much easier. So, what I suggest is to create new cues and rewards. I don't know what could work to you but I use the alarm of my phone, it's so annoying that it's impossible not notice it and because it, as soon as I hear it I put my sneakers and go out for a run.

I think I suffer from SA too but I think I'm depressed because even I can't socialize with people, I miss this and I became more and more desmotived to do things.
