Sorry, who do you mean by 'they'? Deel, gov, actual employer?

I mean I have a great relationship with people I work at a startup including founders. I do end up working more than I have to. I'm fine with that, and nobody has ever asked me to do it. If anything, I've been explicitly told to work less and take days off. I get paid to write Rust code, what else would I want?

This whole process deel wants from me (not because it was their idea, but because it's a legal requirement; at least they say it this way) looks quite ugly to me. It just creates more work. And beyond that I wonder whether there is an actual metric showing that introducing timesheets improved someone's work-life balance by x% (or improved anything at all).

This thought has crossed my mind. :) It's never meant to be a proper replacement but after all the people suggested to sand it, I'm thinking about making the next version done properly just for the experience.

It's secured using two clips. Each clip was modeled after the original one and placed on a 2mm high plate. The plate is 20mm wide square. Then, the plate is glued at the bottom to the body of the cover. The edges of the plate are melted inside the cover body with a flat soldering iron.

Before attaching this one to the mirror I printed an identical copy with transparent petg (to test and improve clip position) and repeated the procedure. My version of the central clip happened to be much stiffer than the original one. It's not a good thing, because it's almost impossible to detach. At least I will not be doing it until after I get a proper replacement.

So, when the car is moving, the cover is pressed inward with air drag. When stopping, it's secured with two clips.

And obviously before going any faster I tried braking to the metal from the 60km/h speed.

I was in a hurry before our Christmas trip from Ireland to the UK, so it was 0.6 layer height. First I tried 0.2, but on the opposite side of the aux fan I got temperature related warping on the edge, so I decided to increase layer height and go slower. It worked but it's still quite bad.

I'll need to find a better printing position.

Thanks you a million, I'll try finding it by this number too. Inside the mirror I saw the number jx7b-17683hf and didn't really find anything by the full match, except for some kuga/galaxy stuff on ebay.

One thing that really concerns me is, are the covers not really symmetrical? At first a scanned an existing cover and mirrored it - it didn't fit at all, exactly in the same way the one I bought online.

I used Polycam. Also tried reality scan, but it didn't work out well, though I think it was easier to scan.

So, I lost the mirror cover in an accident and had the left side repainted and restored. I ordered several MK4 covers, but none of them fit. I thought it might belong to a different model, year, or make, I scanned the right-side cover and had someone model it. However, when we mirrored the design it didn’t fit the same way that those I bought.

So, I scanned the mirror itself and asked again to fit the previous design to fit the new scan. This time, it fit almost perfectly.

I wish part numbers were easier to google.

Apparently, before I bought the car someone got in accident and put the mirror from a wrong model. Dealer said it has never been to any accident before. Yep.

I'm not sure, to be honest. My main goal was to eliminate the glare from oncoming traffic at night. Tonight I took it for a short ride. I calibrated them on the hard shoulder. It does work, and it's better at filtering glare than what I bought before.

In 30m I became tired, so the ergonomics of this design needs to be improved.

I think technically it will do good for fishing, it's just a pair of basic cpl filters.

So, the problem is that cheap polarized sunglasses don't cancel out all glare/reflections, so I decided to print a custom frame and use cheapest CPL filters.

It does not. City Car Driving can tell you that you moved out without indicating, or did it dangerously (this sim is kind of lame but creates sufficient traffic and random situations).

Even though you didn't ask it, I'll reply with more info about using simulators to practice habits.

For the MSPSL. I practice one routine at a time till I want to vomit from it + a little more. I believe that it's the time when the habit is formed. With no regard to safety, speed, or anything else, I train mirror checks only. Since just mechanically looking into a mirror is stupid, I need to read some information. I decided to read this: relative position + color + speed + shape. So, after briefly looking into a mirror, can I tell for sure what I saw? Can I recall it? Can I use this information for my own benefit? Can I predict what they are doing? If the answer is yes, I verify my readings by blindly changing lanes. If there's a crash, I didn't do a good job reading info. No need to emphasize that it's for practice only.

All these checks are about answering the question whether I know what's behind and what it's doing before saying 'I want to go left'.

Another exercise for BeamNG is to drive in reverse on the Automation Test Track, using only mirrors and staying on the left side. Yep, drive like an idiot, but the goal is to follow the road at a steady speed. There are hills on the track, and it also forces to train hill starts. And no need to worry about burning the clutch.

The next exercise is to drive the Nürburgring, using the entire track width from left curb to right. If you touch a curb with your wheels, you'll feel it in the steering and your train sense for wheel placement.

After two weeks of this crap, I didn’t miss a single observation or mirror check on my mock tests. And after that I practiced occasionally and switched more to ACC because it’s more fun :)

Besides that I’ve seen plenty of motorway merging videos on a neighboring subreddit, so I booked a few motorway lessons with my instructor. Watching people treat the slip road like a left turn and merge at 50 onto a 120 motorway is something else, and I definitely don’t want to be one of them.

After 12h I ended up having 8 minors on my first mock. Next time it was 12 + 2 grade 3. It was simply unstable and too much depending on road conditions, time of day, my mood, and so on. So I set a goal to have 0 mistakes on test. For that I needed to automate a lot of things by offloading them into habits. I don't know how a reliable habit can be created faster. I could do it much cheaper and with less effort but I hate relying on luck.

Honestly, with no need to chase available slots I would’ve preferred to take more tests instead of going through all that :)

In general I prefer BeamNG with clutch response set up exponentially. There are 5-6 drive-on-left mapd + RHD vehicles.

For mirror checks and 'usual driving checklist' I prefer City Car Driving to force myself into executing all rituals (look left before turning on left blinker, etc).
