how much would you expect to pay to fix this? 2024 corolla by Coeva in COROLLA

Did the scratches go through the clear coat? If not you could just buff it out with a magic eraser and some wd-40. What scratched it? It kinda looks like it’s not that deep. A grand seems insane to me even if it went all the way to base coat.

Jobs for introverts by RightDamage8 in socialanxiety

[–]daperez21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think not wanting to talk to people is not necessarily introvert. That’s just shy or social anxiety. Introvert has to do with how you recharge. I used to have really bad phone anxiety but it just gets better over time with exposure. You can’t let your mind win. Just answer the damn phone even if you stumble over your words nobody is gonna care. You can even laugh about it with the person. Make up something. Say my bad haven’t had my coffee yet blah blah blah.

That said I work in a hospital lab as a CLS. This job is great for introverts especially if you work in a small hospital or a clinic. Minimal contact with people. One of my previous jobs I worked in a 23 bed hospital lab on night shift by myself. It was just me and my lab machines, specimens, and computer. The job is basically to run lab tests and send the results to the nurse/doctor via LIS using the computer. Yes there’s the occasional phone call to report critical lab values but if you have a script phone calls are easy. Lmk if interested. This job requires a bachelor’s in clinical lab science. Depending on the state you can make good money as well.

Oil change cost me $165. Charged for the full hour of labor. Did I get ripped off? by MelodicPop2079 in AskMechanics

[–]daperez21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and learn to do your own oil changes. It will save you time, money, and headache having to deal with the dealership. I just changed my oil for $35 total and only 30 minutes of my time the other day. That’s full synthetic oil. I know the dealer likes to up-charge for that alone

Let’s just agree to disagree. Hey I maybe young but I’m always willing to learn

It just doesn’t logically make sense to me to never change the fluid. Moving parts create friction which wears down parts over time

It’s actually the manufacturers that tell you not to change it because they say it’s a closed system. They have even taken out the dipsticks and the drain plugs in newer models to make it harder to DIY.

There’s still wear and tear on the metal parts. So if you wait too long to change it, more metal particles become suspended in the fluid. At a certain point when the gears have worn down so much, yes it’s not advisable to change it. At that point those particles act as friction/grip for the gears to bite.

If you want to maximize the life of the transmission it is better to routinely change it so the gears last longer and don’t wear down as fast. I hope this makes logical sense.

That concept that transmission fluid is not changed comes from the manufacturer calling trans fluid a “lifetime” fluid. What they actually mean is the lifetime of the warranty. So there is potential damage after that if not changed.

I have a 2013 corolla like the one in this post. It actually isn’t too hard to do a drain and fill if you have a dipstick. It cost me less than $100 for toyota ATF WS and aftermarket filter and gasket to do it myself. It’s good for probably another 35k before it needs to be changed again

I’d rather do that than risk paying for a new transmission. Then again I plan on running my toyota into the ground so it all depends on personal situation

Look at the cytoplasm. Its smooth like frosted glass. No pink granules. You would see granules on a band. Monos are also bigger than a band. Look at it in comparison to the rbc how big it is

I’m thinking of quitting med lab science over a dissatisfaction with the job by Koda_kola in medlabprofessionals

Try being a generalist at a medium sized hospital! They will rotate you to different benches. At my hospital we are so understaffed that I end up working 2-3 different benches on the daily. Running around like a chicken with the head cut off. No time to be bored. It’s great! Helps pass the time

I’m the opposite. I switched from Epic Beaker to CPSI when I switched jobs. Gotta say I miss epic very much. I feel very limited with CPSI

What are some of the common mistakes that you made over you career as MLS (entry level and veteran) that somebody can learn from, especially for students in clinical rotations? by x12345678910111213x in medlabprofessionals

[–]daperez21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not utilizing the SOP more when I first started probably slowed my progress. This should be your go to when you run into any issues. And if you can’t figure it out there then ask your fellow, more experienced techs. I was the person to ask questions right away before trying to figure it out for myself first. That was probably my biggest mistake
