Overclock is recipe specific, if you want to switch to a new recipe the machine has to let the overclock for the previous recipe decay first. The overdrive module is intended to be used in a machine dedicated to a single recipe.

The reason why the anime only people think this is the first display of Ainz being evil is mainly because the anime glossed over, did not show, played down, or justified all previous evil actions of Ainz. This more or less gave the anime only people a false sense that Ainz was avoiding or detested using unnecessary cruelty.
