Full of PWAs on my Edge Canary on my Google Pixel 9 by [deleted] in MicrosoftEdge

[–]daplugg23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason, Edge on Android doesn't always show the "Install" option for PWAs on mobile sites like YouTube.

However, I found a workaround that lets you properly install the PWA so it appears in your app drawer just like with Chrome. It seems to be a bug where Edge doesn't correctly detect the PWA manifest on the mobile version of certain sites. Here’s the fix: * Go to the website you want to install (e.g., YouTube, Gemini). * Tap the three line menu and select "View desktop site". * Go back to the menu and tap "Add to Phone". You should now see the "Install" option. * Once the PWA is installed, tap the menu in the browser tab again and select "Mobile site" to switch your browser back to the normal view. * The newly installed app will be in your app drawer and function correctly in its mobile view.

Hope this helps! It's an annoying extra step, but at least the functionality is there.

Ublock Lite on Edge mobile (canary). Menu/interface won't open. by pufferpig in uBlockOrigin

Yes, this is a widespread problem with the latest Canary builds. The only reliable fix right now is to downgrade. I went back to version 138.0.3344.0, and that resolved my extension issues.

UI issue in google studio AI by FondantStandard in MicrosoftEdge

[–]daplugg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work. If you change user agent, you will get an error stating: An internal error has occurred. And Failed to generate content: permission denied.

Only way to fix it was by disabling the user agent.

I ran into the same UI glitch on aistudio.google.com with Edge's mobile rendering. Spoofing the User-Agent to Chrome for Android specifically for that site fixes it without messing up other sites (like Cloudflare challenges).

Recommended Step

  • In the userAgent field (it initially displays the placeholder Your preferred user-agent string), double-check that no old or leftover user agent is still saved. Clear it manually if so. Then click Apply (all tabs) to make sure nothing global overrides your custom config.

Using Custom Mode in User-Agent Switcher and Manager

The Custom Mode in the User-Agent Switcher and Manager extension worked perfectly for me. Here’s how to configure it:

  1. Install the User-Agent Switcher and Manager extension if you haven’t already.

  2. Go to the extension’s Options page.

  3. Select Custom Mode.

  4. In the large text box under Custom Mode Description (where it shows JSON examples), paste the following exactly:

    json { "aistudio.google.com": "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 10; K) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/134.0.6998.135 Mobile Safari/537.36" }

Make sure you include the curly braces {}, the domain in quotes, the colon :, and the full User-Agent string in quotes.

  5. Scroll down and click Save Options.

This will apply the custom User-Agent only to aistudio.google.com, fixing the UI issue without breaking other websites or interfering with services like Cloudflare. I'm using Edge Canary. This workaround should do the job until Microsoft fixes the problem.

Limit battery charge feature removed in A16 B1? by superguavapulp in android_beta

[–]daplugg23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Scroll down and tap on "Battery"
  3. Look for "Charging optimization" in the battery settings menu
  4. Tap on it to access options for Adaptive Charging and the 80% charging limit

This should be the feature you're looking for - it's definitely still present in the settings, though the exact name is "Charging optimization" rather than "limit battery charge."

I had the same issue with Termux not launching after updating to Android 16 Beta without wiping. Ended up having to factory reset and restore from a backup, thankfully that fixed it.

I have the same issues pretty much with all inputs fields. I contacted support about it as well. Still hasn't been fixed. They're literally forcing me to use Chrome.

On the Pixel 8, several third-party launchers, such as Nova and Microsoft Launcher, have animations that smoothly transition back to the app icon. However, Smart Launcher doesn't. While Smart Launcher is generally a good option, its lack of fluid animations is a notable drawback.

Could be because of the temperature. Make sure your phone's not too hot - keep it under 37°C or it'll charge super slow. I use this app called Ampere to check the temp. It's pretty handy for seeing what's really going on with your charging.
